ZywOo claims the 1st-ever perfect game at a CSGO Major

There’s never been a perfect game during a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major. Until now.

Team Vitality AWPer Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut has scored the first perfect game in CSGO major history. The sniper ended the opening best-of-one against Complexity with zero deaths. This further cements Vitality as a favorite for the Antwerp Major Challengers Stage. 16-0s are a rare sight in competitive CSGO, but perfect games with zero deaths are even rarer.

The opening round pit strong French-Danish team Team Vitality against North American hopefuls Team Complexity. Vitality was expected to win the match handily. Inferno is a strong map for the squad, and multiple Vitality players came to play. Emil “Magisk” Reif and Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen scored 20 and 19 kills respectively in just 17 rounds.

As the riflers chipped away, AWPer ZywOo played very conservatively. He often played defensive spots that were easy to hold. As the rounds crept into the double-digits, commentators and stream chat started noticing ZywOo’s zero deaths. At the final 16-1 scoreline, he boasted a KD of 11 and 0.

Starting off a major run with the first-ever perfect game has to be a confidence booster. It’s also an accomplishment for ZywOo that has not been achieved by rival AWPer Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev.

Perfect games are rarer than 16-0s at the CSGO Majors

The term “perfect CSGO game” could also apply to a match where one team win 16 rounds in a row without letting their opponent win even one. 16-0s are rare at the majors, but they’re much more common than deathless games.

To date, there have only been two 16-0 victories at the majors. The elusive double 16-0 has yet to be performed at a Valve tournament. Only four 32-0 scorelines have ever been recorded in competitive CSGO.

Both 16-0s were earned by the quadruple major-winning Astralis against Americas talent. The first was a perfect game against MiBR at the 2018 FACEIT CSGO Major. A year later, Astralis annihilated Cloud9 16-0 on Train at IEM Katowice 2019. Coincidentally, Magisk and dupreeh both greatly contributed to those landmark win. Now they helped achieve another incredible accomplishment.
