Will you be able to explore Hogwarts Castle in Hogwarts Legacy?

Exploring the legendary Hogwarts Castle was only a dream for fans who grew up reading Harry Potter. But this year’s hottest new RPG, Hogwarts Legacy, may soon bring those magical dreams to reality. 

The first look at Hogwarts Legacy in PlayStation’s 14-minute gameplay trailer was everything fans expected and more. From the iconic broomsticks to a great hall with floating candles, the Hogwarts minutia is in line with the universe its author created for what became a legendary franchise. The game looks immersive, but will players finally get a chance to roam the magical hallways of Hogwarts Castle themselves? 

While the books provided a more detailed account of Hogwarts Castle, the movies did an excellent job visualizing the text. Now players want to explore the magical grounds in an open-world setting. 

How much of Hogwarts Castle can you explore in Hogwarts Legacy?

Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world game, so players will have complete freedom to explore Hogwarts Castle and some locations outside of the school as well. 

The game’s trailer made it clear that students enrolled in Hogwarts will be authorized to tour the castle. The school is an exact copy of the castle illustrated in J.K Rowling’s original books, so it’s thrilling that players can finally get a firsthand venture. Many objects are interactable, so the tour won’t be boring by any stretch. Players can visit Herbology, dark arts, and potion classrooms, as well as the Room of Requirements, the castle’s greatest spectacle. 

However, the gigantic landscape shouldn’t distract you from the goal of fighting evil forces and learning new charms. Hogwarts Castle will have actual classes to attend that will add to your skillset, which will later assist in eradicating dark forces. 

Where does Hogwarts Legacy take place?

Hogwarts Legacy takes place in Scottish Highlands near the village of Hogsmeade, inside the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy. Players can also discover new and familiar locations outside of Hogwarts Castel. These will include the Forbidden Forest and Hogsmeade Village, among others yet to be announced.

Can you go outside Hogwarts Castle in Hogwarts Legacy? 

Players can visit limited spots outside of Hogwarts Castle. However, they will leave the school grounds at their own risk as the wizarding world is fraught with dangers, including creatures corrupted by magical forces, sinister witches, and dastardly wizards. 

The game’s trailer featured many familiar locations that may be explorable in Hogwarts Legacy. The dark alley in the trailer looks like Knockturn Alley, where Harry Potter once accidentally ended up through Floo Network. The market is known to be a nerve center for cursed and evil items. Another battle in the trailer seems to occur in Gringotts Wizarding Bank, but the developers haven’t confirmed it. Hogwarts Express was also spotted, but it’s not likely to be explorable in the game. 

The locations confirmed to be explorable so far include the Forbidden Forest and Hogsmeade Village. Both the spots are popular in the Harry Potter franchise. They played a crucial role in Harry putting together an army and stopping Dolores Jane Umbridge from inhabiting Hogwarts Castle.
