While fans ate up Delicious in Dungeon when it debuted on Netflix, fans are already hungry for a Season 2 run.

Almost 10 years removed from the manga’s debut, Ryoko Kui’s Dungeon Meshi received an anime adaptation from Studio Trigger. Though action-oriented anime series like Demon Slayer and Naruto are known for their convoluted, often melodramatic stories, Delicious in Dungeon wowed fans with a high fantasy setting that sets itself apart with punchy dialog and its emphasis on food.

he show was a breakout hit at home in Japan, and garnered widespread acclaim and glowing reviews after it traveled abroad with Netflix. Fans were treated to 24 episodes in the debut season, a rare treat in the modern TV landscape where 10 to 13 episodes is the norm.

Though that season is beloved, the story is far from over. None of the major story beats were wrapped up by the end of episode 24, so can fans look forward to Delicious in Dungeon Season 2?

Are they making a Delicious in Dungeon Season 2?

Delicious in Dungeon Season 2 is confirmed to be in the works.

The news was confirmed not long after the conclusion of Delicious in Dungeon Season 1. The plans were confirmed with the release of a short teaser trailer with a montage of memorable moments from the show. It closes with something new, though; a short scene where the mad mage Thistle threatens the party alongside an entire army of dragons.

Few details are given in regard to its release, however. There’s no release window given in the trailer, nor any indication regarding how many episodes there might be. Studio Trigger, which animated the first season, will return for the second. While there’s little information regarding its release, fans can be certain about what will happen in the story.

What will happen in Delicious in Dungeon Season 2?

Delicious in Dungeon Season 2’s story will pick up immediately after where Season 1 left off.

Season 1 doesn’t close on a true cliffhanger, but it does tease a major shift in the story. The Canaries, a group sent by the much-discussed “elves of the west” appear to investigate and conquer the titular dungeon. They’re initially escorted by Shuro, Namari, and Kabru, who discuss how the upper levels of the dungeon have changed since the start of the series. The Canaries’ goal of taking over the dungeon puts them at odds with Laios and company, who have committed themselves to defeating Thistle.

It’s unclear how deep Delicious in Dungeon Season 2 will go into the manga, but it’s possible that it could be the final season. The 24 episodes of Season 1 covered 45 chapters of the manga, and there are just 97 in total. Depending on the show’s pacing and the length of the season, it’s possible the second season could cover everything up to the ending.

Either way, fans can look forward to a second helping.
