Will the new Hogwarts Legacy game have multiplayer?

The year’s most popular open-world game Hogwarts Legacy is a dream come true for Harry Potter fans. Exploring the infamous wizarding school would finally become possible in a virtual setting. The developer has announced key details for the game, but players want to know if they could band together to fight the dark forces at Hogwarts. The game is set to release for the 2022 holiday season across all major gaming platforms. But it may not have multiplayer after all.

Does Hogwarts Legacy have co-op multiplayer?

Hogwarts Legacy is a single-player experience and does not have multiplayer, and that includes co-op modes.

Avalanche Software’s RPG will be available on multiple platforms, but players won’t be able to team up against dark wizards and mysterious monsters. According to the developer, players will be able to explore a fully realized Hogwarts Castle in an offline setting. Interacting with friends across platforms won’t be a feature in the game.

It’s pretty standard for RPG games in modern times to have multiplayer with certain limitations. But Hogwarts Legacy is taking a more traditional approach to its design, and Hogwarts Legacy does not have in-game purchases or micro-transactions.

Hogwarts Legacy takes players beyond Hogwarts to new and familiar locations, including the Forbidden Forest and Hogsmeade Village. It may have been tricky to add multiplayer co-op and other online options. Hogwarts Legacy is looking to present a massive world to players, and that is where the developer’s focus looks to be aimed.

Hogwarts Legacy will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One consoles, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Hogwarts Legacy was initially announced for 2021, but some internal hiccups have pushed the game to 2022. The publisher later confirmed that it would be released for all major gaming platforms, but players have only seen a PlayStation 5 gameplay so far. The state of play video on PlayStation 5 was pretty helpful in gearing up to explore the wizarding world.

The video introduced new characters and fresh lore, including goblins at the center. The dark forces in Hogwarts Legacy have made players wonder if they’d have any help in multiplayer from fellow fans of Harry Potter, but it looks like that won’t be the case.
