Will Tekken 8 have crossplay?

Tekken 8 is the next installment in one of the most legendary series in the fighting genre. Developed by Bandai Namco, this game promises to take the Tekken series to new heights. One of the questions that players have is whether Tekken 8 will have crossplay or not. Luckily, we know the answer.

Crossplay is an important element that more developers are keeping in mind when releasing a game. If the game offers any kind of online experience, it is only natural for players to want to share it with friends. Even if the online is not cooperative but competitive, crossplay increases the pool of possible opponents.

When it comes to games in the fighting genre, Tekken is one of the biggest names. Tekken is the longest-running story in a video game franchise. After almost eight years, Tekken is finally releasing a new installment in the franchise.

The story will focus on the showdown between Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima. Tekken 8 also marks the return of Jun Kazama to the list of playable characters after 25 years.

Bandai Namco made it abundantly clear that Tekken 8 is its most ambitious game to date. The game is designed to push the limits of the current hardware. Tekken 8 is full of high-definition characters and arenas for players to enjoy.

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the game will only be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

It’s been confirmed that Tekken 8 will have crossplay. Tekken’s director, Katsuhiro Harada, made the announcement through Twitter. According to Harada, including crossplay has been his plan all along, but the opposition came from the company behind the consoles.

“When the previous generation consoles were released, I had already proposed crossplay between the two platformers.  However, at that time, they were at odds with each other over their mutual interests (and P2P security issue) & repeatedly refused,” Harada wrote.

Seems like those issues are now in the past, and Tekken 8 fans will get to enjoy the full online experience.
