Will Space Marine 2 have crossplay on launch?
Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 is approaching its official release, and players have numerous questions about it. One common query is whether Space Marine 2 will have crossplay.
Released in 2011, the original Space Marine was an instant hit among the fans of the popular miniature wargame series produced by Games Workshop. However, the most recent installments have been underwhelming at best. The great news is that upcoming Space Marine 2 trailers look promising, and players think crossplay may take things up a notch.
Set in a dystopian science fantasy universe in the 41st millennium, Space Marine 2 will allow players to defeat the Tyranid swarms with deadly abilities, unlockables, progressions, and customizations. The game looks bigger than ever as it introduces repeatable co-op strike missions and new weapons.
But will Space Marine 2 players be able to queue with those on a different device? Here’s what we know.
Will Space Marine 2 have crossplay?
According to Space Marine 2 creative director Oliver Hollis-Leick, the game will support crossplay on launch.
This means all players across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S will be able to queue together and obliterate the Tyranid swarms. This is exciting since Space Marine 2 supports both solo and multiplayer game modes. In multiplayer, you can queue up with three friends who can play as either Brother Chairon or Gadriel. If you’re playing solo, the other two characters can be controlled by AI as well.
Space Marine 2 introduces an exciting new co-op mode that allows players to team up and take on both PvE and PvP challenges. In this mode, players have the option to select from 6 distinct classes, each with its own unique abilities and playstyle. From the resilient Bulwark wielding a Combat Shield to the elusive Sniper with a Camo Cloak, there’s a class to suit every playstyle.
Space Marine 2 release date
Space Marine 2 releases on September 9 2024 on PC, Playstation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
