Massive YouTuber and content creator Jimmy “Mr. Beast” Donaldson has been announced to be joining the English language broadcasting desk at the Worlds 2022 grand finals.

Mr. Beast has long been known to love League of Legends and its esports scene, but this appearance is his first time officially overlapping with Riot Games. He’ll be making an appearance on the Worlds 2022 Finals broadcast before the games start, with opening ceremonies beginning at 5 pm PST.

Mr. Beast joins Worlds Finals broadcast

Mr. Beast is the latest guest announced to be part of Riot Games’ finale broadcast for this year’s biggest international tournament. The YouTuber has made a name for himself doing huge giveaways, challenge videos, and pouring huge sums of money into creating massive events like his replica of the hit show Squid Game.

This is Mr. Beast’s first real official intersection with League of Legends esports, but it’s not the first time that he’s shown his love for the game. Mr. Beast has been vocal about his love of League of Legends and its esports scene and has even said he’d want to buy a League of Legends team if the opportunity ever arose. That likelihood is seeming more and more possible with him appearing on Riot Games’ largest broadcast.

Is Mr. Beast buying an LCS team?

While Mr. Beast has expressed interest, and could probably rally the considerable capital required to purchase an existing team’s franchising slot from them, there are no current rumors of him trying to enter the space. The only team who was looking to sell their slot in the 2022-2023 offseason was the LEC’s Astralis, and they appear to have decided to retain their spot for the time being.

It does seem like an inevitability that if Mr. Beast truly wants to purchase an LCS team, he’d be able to do so in the not-so-distant future. For now Mr. Beast’s fans will have to be satisfied with him appearing on the Worlds broadcast rather than in an LCS organization.
