JasonR may not be the biggest streamer on Twitch, but a large chunk of Valorant’s audience is familiar with his content. The recent Tarik “tarik” Celik versus JasonR drama was the primary reason behind his sudden popularity on the streaming platform. The drama around JasonR had been brewing for months, but Tarik’s live confrontation was the final nail in the coffin. Here’s everything about JasonR, from his earlier CSGO career to his more recent Valorant drama.
What happened to JasonR?
JasonR was previously popular for his high-skill gameplay streams in CSGO and Valorant, but later became better known for his problematic behavior online. Multiple Valorant players came forward with clips and claims that JasonR abandoned games upon noticing there was a woman on his team. He claimed that his streaming PC crashes games frequently, but later admitted to leaving games with women on his team with the explanation that he didn’t want his wife to feel uncomfortable because of his interactions with women.
Many popular streamers, including tarik, opposed his beliefs and behaviors. JasonR was called out for being sexist and for not apologizing right away. Instead, he seemed to shoot himself in the foot by presenting lengthy explanations in his defense.
What happened between tarik and JasonR?
When the JasonR drama was still fresh, a discussion was triggered during a ranked session with tarik, who had clarified earlier that he disagreed with JasonR’s stance. JasonR called Tarik an “L friend” for not having his back despite personally knowing him and his wife. The discussion snowballed into a full-blown argument during a live stream, quickly becoming a hot topic in the gaming community.
Consequently, the Valorant community was divided in two. While some sent hate tarik’s way, most were lauding the streamer and former pro player. JasonR became more notable in Valorant due to the drama. He eventually apologized after a large chunk of the community called him out. In a Twitlonger, the streamer said he’d avoid indulging in online situations that may lead to toxicity, pointing toward dodging women in ranked games.
“I was trying to avoid potentially toxic situations, not wanting her to be put through drama. I will no longer be avoiding these online situations, and I am sorry that my intentions were misconstrued by my actions,” JasonR said.
Did JasonR play CSGO?
Before starting his career on Twitch, JasonR was a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player who occasionally ran FACEIT FPL with popular pro players. He competed in numerous tournaments, but never played at the game’s highest level.
Even so, JasonR was a skilled enough CSGO player to hang and compete with some of the game’s top players at his peak.
Why did JasonR leave Faze Clan?
When Valorant was released, JasonR was picked up by FaZe Clan as one of the gaming organization’s first signings to start a new Valorant roster. He joined the team as an in-game leader, but quickly left FaZe after joining to start his own Valorant roster elsewhere.
After making the move, JasonR eventually settled into his current role focusing more on streaming than on professional play.
