Who is Rampart in Apex Legends and who voices the character?

Apex Legends is a vibrant battle royale with intense gunplay and unique legends. Each legend has their own abilities, but also their own backstory and lore. Rampart is a newer legend that has sparked some controversy with both her character and kit, but who is she?

Ramya Parekh, also known as Rampart, was found in a junkyard and continued to tinker within them throughout her childhood. She’d often use various trinkets, pieces, and parts to make paintball guns. What started as a hobby turned into her passion, creating custom equipment for Arenas matches. She eventually opened Rampart Mods, a custom weapon shop.

How old is Rampart?

Rampart was born in 2712, making her 21 years old in the game. While young, Rampart is already an established weapons dealer and Apex champion.

Rampart became involved with a gang led by someone known only as Big Sister. While part of the gang, she was asked to intentionally lose a gauntlet run but couldn’t bring herself to do.

After a night of drinking with Bangalore and Gibraltar, the gang’s enforcer and other members cornered her. After defending herself and her shop as best she could, Big Sister arrived and burned down the shop.

Kuben Blisk took notice of her “fighting spirit” and handed her an Apex card soon after. This is when Rampart was invited to become a legend under his sponsorship.

Rampart abilities in Apex Legends

As you can guess from Rampart’s backstory, the weapons specialist is all about firepower. Her passive, Modded Loader, gives her increased magazine capacity and faster reloads while using LMGs and the Minigun.

Rampart’s tactical, Amped Cover, allows her to build a crouch-cover wall that blocks incoming shots and amps outgoing shots. Her ultimate is Sheila, a mobile minigun that she can fire while walking.

These defensive and destructive abilities make Rampart a powerful addition to any team. She was regarded as an upper-mid tier legend, which is higher than most firepower-focused characters.

Who is the voice of Rampart?

Rampart is voiced by Anjali Bhimani, a well-known voice actress in the gaming industry thanks to her work in Overwatch and Apex Legends. Bhimani is also the voice behind Symmetra, a turret-focused hero in Overwatch.

Her work as Symmetra actually won her the Best Vocal Ensemble award at Behind the Voice Actors 2016 along with her voice actors from Overwatch.

Bhimani has also appeared in Indian films, Broadway plays, and numerous television shows like All My Children, Flight of the Conchords, Modern Family, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Journeyman, and The Sopranos.
