1923 follows the Dutton family during a difficult time when they’re dealing with prohibition, drought, and the start of the Great Depression. The first season of 1923 has eight episodes that were released in December 2022. Back in February, the show was renewed for a second season. The production and release date for the second season might be affected by the ongoing WGA strike.

Harrison Ford
Harrison Ford, who you might know as Han Solo or Indiana Jones, plays Jacob Dutton. Jacob is the patriarch of the family and older brother of James, the character portrayed by Tim McGraw in the prequel 1883.
Helen Mirren
Helen Mirren has a long list of credits that combine dramatic roles with comedy and action. Most recently, Mirren has been part of the Fast & Furious franchise. In 1923, Mirren plays Cara Dutton, the matriarch of the Dutton family and Jacob’s wife.
Brandon Sklenar
Brandon Sklenar portrays Spencer Dutton, the youngest son of James and nephew of Jacob. He is a World War I veteran that is currently traveling through Africa. Sklenar previously worked on New Girl and Westworld.
Julia Schlaepfer
Julia Schlaepfer is better known for her work in the Netflix show The Politician and American Horror Stories. Schlaepfer plays Alexandra, a British woman who gets involved with Spencer during his time in Africa.
Darren Mann
Darren Mann plays Jack Dutton, James’ grandson. He is a rancher, loyal to the Dutton legacy. 1923 is Mann’s second TV project, he previously worked on indie Canadian films.
Isabel May
Isabel May is the show’s narrator, Elsa Dutton. May first portrayed this character in 1883.
The second season of the show was confirmed in February 2023. There isn’t an official release date for the second season of 1923, but it could come at some point in 2024. Due to the ongoing WGA strike, most productions are either experiencing delays or getting paused indefinitely.
