Kirby and the Forgotten Land is full of interesting allies and enemies that range from adorable to deadly. One of the most mysterious and interesting is Morpho Knight, with Kirby fans old and new wondering about the story behind the masked villain.

Morpho Knight is actually not new to Kirby and the Forgotten Land. He first showed up in Kirby Star Allies but also included in other scrapped Kirby games. A 20th anniversary Kirby art book showed an early image of Morpho Knight, which fans first thought was an early design of Meta Knight. Director Shinya Kumazaki later confirmed it was an entirely separate character.

In fact, Kumazaki is the one who wanted to bring Morpho Knight to the Kirby games sooner than Star Allies. Orange butterflies can be seen in the opening and ending cutscenes of Kirby’s Return to Dreamland, Kirby: Triple Deluxe, and Kirby: Planet Robobot.

Still, Morpho Knight didn’t appear in his true form until Kirby Star Allies, where he was the final boss of Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go, a sub-game. He is revealed after players defeat Hyness. Galacta Knight is absorbed by the familiar orange butterfly, which then transforms into Morpho Knight. His power to absorb these strong villains means Morpho Knight is incredibly formidable.

What is Morpho Knight’s role in Kirby and the Forgotten Land?

Just like in Star Allies, Morpho Knight appears in Kirby and the Forgotten Land as an endgame boss after beating the main story. Reach the end of Isolated Isles: Forgo Dreams to unlock Morpho Knight.

Fecto Forgo begins to fight Kirby but is absorbed by an orange butterfly that appears to be innocent at first. But it’s actually Morpho Knight, the “Fluttering Dream Eater” who came to “feast on the most powerful soul it finds.”

When Kirby defeats Morpho Knight, Fecto Forgo is able to escape and become Chaos Elfilis due to the extra power he gained from Morpho Knight.

Unlike previous appearances, Morpho Knight drops a blueprint for a copy ability upgrade in Forgotten Land. It’s actually one of the most powerful of all.

How do you beat Morpho Knight in Kirby and the Forgotten Land?

Morpho Knight is one of the most difficult bosses in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. There are some tricks that will help you take him down without dying.

During the first phase of the battle, Morpho Knight blinks around the arena. Time your attacks so you can hit him when he finally appears. Morpho Knight will try to chip away at you with quick sword slashes, but they’re easy to avoid.

The biggest challenge at this stage is avoiding Morpho Knight’s energy waves, which deal big damage. Jump above these and then use your own attacks to damage Morpho Knight. Another difficult aspect of the battle is the giant purple head that Morpho Knight summons. Keep your distance, avoiding this enemy at all costs.

The second phase has Morpho Knight wielding two flaming swords. He will slam one down to create walls made of fire to dodge. When he creates two walls, they meet in the middle. These are slow attacks that are easy to dodge.

But Morpho Knight will also summon two big heads as he blinks around and slashes at you. Really try to avoid these quick slashes since they do a lot of damage.

As with the first phase, you shouldn’t shoot an attack at Morpho Knight when he’s about to move since he’s too fast to hit. Instead, try to attack when he’s loading up his own. At the same time, avoid Morpho Knight’s new energy attack that creates a forcefield of sorts around him. This will distort your vision and leave Kirby vulnerable.

You’ll notice that Morpho Knight attacks more and more as the phase continues. Stay out of Morpho Knight’s way and only go after him when he’s charging up attacks. If you play defensively against Morpho Knight, you should make quick work of him.

Just like Meta Knight, Morpho Knight shares a lot of similarities with Kirby. They have a similar shape, but Morpho Knight has a black body and white eyes. There is no proof anywhere that Morpho Knight, Meta Knight, Galacta Knight, and all other Kirby-like villains are related to Kirby. But it’s still possible.
