Hogwarts Legacy is launching soon, and the developer has unveiled the character lineup ahead of the release. Out of all, players are most excited about Simon Pegg joining the cast as the voice actor of the headmaster.

Harry Potter’s fan base is still well and alive. When Hogwarts Legacy was announced in 2020, the Potterheads jumped on the hype bandwagon. A blockbuster release for the game was expected, and it’s getting even better. Warner Bros.’ Hogwarts game features a diverse cast, but a specific name stands out.

Popular English actor Simon Pegg is joining the voice actor lineup of Hogwarts Legacy, and his character might be the strongest in the storyline.

Fans know Simon Pegg from the hit trilogy dubbed Three Flavours Cornetto. The cult-classic British anthology series featuring Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End shook up the apocalypse and action genre of movies with a dash of comedy.

After earning his stripe in pop culture, Simon Pegg is now entering the gaming universe in style. In Hogwarts Legacy, he’s filling in the shoes of Professor Dumbledore (except Dumbledore didn’t exist in his timeline). Phineas Nigellus Black is the headmaster at Hogwarts, voiced by Simon Pegg.

Who is Phineas Nigellus Black in Hogwarts Legacy?

If the name rings a bell, it’s likely because you have watched the Harry Potter series one too many times. Phineas Nigellus Black is the first name on Sirius Black’s family tree. He also appears in one of Dumbledore’s talking paintings. Players may develop a natural soft spot for him for the surname Black, but you don’t want to get ahead of yourself just now.

Phineas Nigellus Black wasn’t precisely the biggest flagbearer of Muggle rights. It doesn’t come off as a surprise since he was a Slytherin in ancient times when muggles were looked down upon. But that’s not his only flaw. Phineas Nigellus Black was a careless headmaster who didn’t care much about the children’s education.

He didn’t even like his job as the headmaster. On the contrary, he loathed mudbloods. Unlike Dumbledore, he wasn’t popular among the students and didn’t have any extraordinary adventures to his name. The iconic “I disagree with Dumbledore on many counts, but you cannot deny he’s got style” was likely the only notable thing he ever said in the franchise.

“He’s not noble, he’s not brave. He’s just a self-interested fool. He’s a bit of an idiot, really,” Simon Pegg said about Phineas Nigellus Black.

So, if you were looking forward to having another role model to look forward to in Hogwarts Legacy, the new headmaster is definitely not it. However, players are excited to know another wizard from the Black bloodline in Hogwarts Legacy.

So, children in Hogwarts Legacy would be on their own without a fatherly headmaster to guide them in their journey.
