Which house should you pick in Hogwarts Legacy?
Hogwarts Legacy may not include legendary Harry Potter characters, but the familiar houses are at the center of the game’s storyline. You may want to pick yours carefully.
When Hogwarts Legacy was teased, fans were expecting to play as their favorite characters from the movies and books, but the trailer poured cold water on players’ enthusiasm. Instead, the game will have a story set over 100 years before the start of the series. This means new faces will replace Harry Potter characters inside the iconic Hogwarts Castle.
But players will still be able to enjoy the authentic Hogwarts experience, with familiar locations and classes. They’ll also have the liberty to be sorted into any house they wish. Players will want to pick their house in Hogwarts Legacy carefully.
What is the best house in Hogwarts Legacy?
All houses are good picks but Hogwarts Legacy presents players with an opportunity to roam the dormitories of their favorite house they grew up reading about. So only pick the house you’re genuinely passionate about.
House picks may determine how the story unfolds for each player. So players should weigh their options before locking in a house. House selection depends entirely on the player. If you’re looking to follow in Harry’s footsteps by doing good and fighting evil, opt for Gryffindor. Those who want to see previously unexplored areas of Hogwarts might want to look at a different house.
Hufflepuff
- Represents- Hard work, dedication, loyalty, fair play
- Logo- Badger emblem in yellow and black
- Renowned figures- Newt Scamander, Cedric Diggory
Hufflepuff students were the butt of jokes in a lot of Harry Potter fan media, but that’s changed over time. The house flew under the radar in the books and movies, but Hufflepuffs are do-gooders on par with Gryffindor. It’s unclear how houses will impact the story, but it’s likely that Hufflepuff will align the player in a very positive way.
Ravenclaw
- Represents- Intelligence, curiosity, creativity, and wit.
- Logo- Eagle emblem in blue and bronze.
- Renowned figures- Luva Lovegood.
Luna Lovegood is the perfect embodiment of a Ravenclaw. The young character had heaps of information about random creatures that were barely even visible. Ravenclaw students are knowledgable and excel at solving riddles. Even the code to enter dormitories was a new riddle each day, polishing their problem-solving skills on the go. Pick this house if you’re in the mood to help solve magical crimes.
Ravenclaws are smart students, but are also pragmatic. Join this house to stay in loop without getting your hands dirty.
Gryffindor
- Represents- Bravery, daring, nerve, and chivalry
- Logo- Lion emblem in scarlet and gold
- Renowned figures- Harry Potter, Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall
Gryffindor housed some of the legendary characters in the storied history of Hogwarts. The hat sensed nascent qualities and only sent those to Gryffindor, who were capable of demonstrating bravery and leadership. Most students in this house indulged in positive activities and avoided dark magic. Students were encouraged to take part in school competitions and other extracurricular activities.
Joining Gryffindor will effectively guarantee characters start off with a heroic alignment. In simple terms, players can live the genuine Harry Potter experience.
Slytherin
- Represents- Leadership, self-preservation, cunning, and resourcefulness
- Logo- Serpent emblem in emerald green and silver
- Renowned figures- Tom Riddle, Bellatrix Lestrange
Harry Potter clarified that no house inherits evil, but Slytherin students were looked down on for being cunning. On top of this is how those who were biased against mixed-blood witches and wizards were often Slytherin. Regardless, the students in this house were highly knowledgeable and resourceful. Slytherin is sly with a dash of Gryffindor’s bravery, which may be why the hat tried putting Harry into the former.
Is Gryffindor better than Slytherin in Hogwarts Legacy?
Gryffindor and Slytherin were archenemies due to the many similarities between their attributes and opposing views about dark magic. In virtue and bravery, Gryffindor is likely the better house but Slytherin has also produced great wizards.
A great rivalry exists between these houses, which was most evident during Quidditch matches, but Gryffindor and Slytherin’s feud was as old as the school itself. It’s unfair to compare both the houses in cunning, as Slytherin is mainly looked down at as the evil house. Conversely, Gryffindor housed Albus Dumbledore, the strongest wizard in history, and even Lord Voldemort himself feared facing him.
