The most recent Overwatch 2 beta period has ended and the Overwatch community still has a lot of questions and concerns about the long-awaited sequel. Support heroes still have a lot of balancing and some players are not feeling the 5v5 change. Some even want to see more maps and gameplay, including the new PvE mode. So will there be another Overwatch 2 beta before the game launches in October?

Overwatch players are hoping to get their hands on the game once again, giving them a chance to get used to the new meta and heroes as well as give feedback to developers. But this is most likely not going to happen, according to Blizzard VP Jon Spector.

Will there be a third Overwatch 2 beta?

Overwatch players hoping to get another chance at participating in an Overwatch 2 beta will have to wait until the game launches on October 4 instead, as there likely will not be a third Overwatch 2 beta. According to Spector, the Overwatch 2 development team isn’t planning any further public beta tests.

“We know players are eager to dive in and have seen questions about the possibility of a third public beta. While we will continue testing OW2 daily internally, we’re not planning any additional public beta tests,” Spector said.

According to Spector, the developers have received enough feedback between the alpha and two public beta periods. Instead, the team will be focusing on launching “the best game possible” on October 4.

The Overwatch 2 community didn’t respond very well to the news. Some taunted Spector on Twitter, calling Overwatch 2 a “dead game” despite it not even coming out yet. Others pointed out bugs, flaws, and concerns encountered during previous beta periods for OW2, questioning if all could be fixed come October.

“No beta summary, dev streams, OW1 events, teaser, cinematics, story expansions (comics/short stories), experimental cards, literally anything? Didn’t you guys learned anything from the past 2,5 years regarding extremely bad communication?” one Overwatch player questioned.

Spector did not specify that his team wouldn’t be releasing any new content at all. His tweet only confirmed that no more beta periods were coming. Overwatch fans may be treated to some teasers and further information before the game launches.
