Teamfight Tactics’ latest expansion, Gizmos and Gadgets, has been an absolute hit with League of Legends fans but when does TFT set 7 arrive?

The sixth expansion for TFT has been an absolute hit with players. Following the addition of Hextech Augments, branching decision trees that radically alter the way you play a given match, fans have flocked to the game in greater numbers than ever before. When can veterans and newcomers alike expect the new TFT set?

When does TFT set 7 release?

The next TFT set update is coming on February 14, but TFT set 7 likely won’t come out until May 2022.

Development on TFT set 7 only started in December, according to Riot Games developers. TFT sets’ releases are offset from the beginning of League of Legends ranked seasons. This lightens the amount of change Riot Games has to worry about at the beginning of the year, while keeping things exciting in the mid-fall as the Summoner’s Rift meta has begun to settle into a recognizable pattern.

Teamfight Tactics: Gizmos and Gadgets released in November 2021, and fans can expect the TFT set 6.5 update to arrive on February 14, when the current TFT battle pass ends. The mid-set update often includes certain traits and units being removed, while other new units and traits get added. The only confirmed new unit for TFT set 6.5 is Arcane’s antagonist Silco, and there’s a fair chance that he’ll be replacing Vi and offering a new two-unit package synergy with Jinx, his adoptive daughter.

Set 5, the Reckoning and Ruination-themed set, was released on April 28, 2021, with Gadgets and Gizmos releasing in November. This means that fans can likely expect a similar timeline of April or May release for TFT set 7, giving set 6.5 three or four months to play out.

It’s not yet been clear what sort of theme the set will take, but one distinct possibility is the Void invasion of Shurima that Riot Games has been seeding in the lore. It’s very possible we could get a Void vs. Shurima and Targon themed set including the upcoming Void hive queen jungler.
