Getting started in Honkai: Star Rail can be an overwhelming experience for players new to the genre. With so much to do in the game, the question is, what to prioritize early in Honkai: Star Rail?
Honkai: Star Rail has a list of items that seems almost endless. Between consumables and materials, the list is long and only grows as you advance through the game. Add to that the banners or characters, and the list gets even more complicated.
It is a common misconception that the priority should be to pull five-star characters. While getting one of those is a lucky occurrence, the truth is that it should not be the focus, at least not early in the game.
In the game, you will receive some characters for free, March 7th, and Dan Heng, specifically. This is your core team and two characters that can take you a long way in the game. Dan Heng is an excellent damage dealer, and March 7th’s shield could be the difference between defeating a boss and losing your team.
March 7th, Dan Heng, and the Trailblazer, the main character, are the three that should be prioritized when it comes to leveling up. To level up, you need resources, and these can be found in different ways.
Assignments
Assignments are, arguably, one of the most important daily tasks in the game. You send out two characters at a time on an assignment to gather certain resources.
In the early levels, you can only send out two duos on assignments. Focus on the Travel Encounters and Sparse Aether, these are resources used to level up your character and your Light Cone.
Each assignment has a preferred path, if you send out characters from those paths, the chances of receiving extra resources increase. As for the time, try sending out your characters of 20 hours assignments. The assignments don’t affect the character’s availability, so you can keep using them on your team.
Golden Calyx
The Golden Calyx is located in Jarilo-VI, and you will gain access to it quickly in the game. Through the Golden Calyx, players get access to a series of battles that will result in different drops. You can take up to six rounds of opponents at a time to increase the rewards.
This should be the priority early because it drops Travel Encounters, Adventure Logs, and Traverler’s Guides. These are items used to increase your character’s level, and this is what you want early. The higher the level, the easier it will be to complete the quests and missions.
It is important to note that all of these options are available for free and require no real money.
