There is never a dull week in Pokemon Go. With special events, Community Days, and spotlight hours, Pokemon Go promises something new to do every week.
The spotlight hour, as its name indicates, is an hour when the featured Pokemon spawns more frequently. It works similarly to a Community Day, the main difference is that it lasts just an hour and happens every week, instead of once a month.
The spotlight hour takes place every Tuesday from 6 PM to 7 PM local time. During this time, players get a Mystery Bonus from the list of Community Day bonuses. The bonuses from Community Days are three times the regular amount of Stardust for capturing a Pokemon and two times the candy. The egg-hatching times are reduced and XP is doubled.
Yes, similarly to Community Days, the chances to find shinies increase. The shiny Pokemon won’t show on the map, so players must enter the combat to figure it out.
The goal of the spotlight hour in Pokemon Go is to capture as many Pokemon as possible to evolve them. No special raids or additional events happen during the spotlight hour. It’s all about the featured Pokemon and nothing else.
The best way to prepare for the spotlight hour is to get items like berries, pokeballs, Star Pieces, and lucky eggs. It is just an hour but a lot can be accomplished with the right preparation.
Pokemon Go sends out notifications about the spotlight hour ahead of it. Additional information is also shared through Twitter. If any errors happen during the spotlight hour, those will also be shared through Twitter.
