Over 900 Pokémon are available in Pokémon Go but, like in a regular game, some are harder to catch than others. Here are some of the rarest Pokémon in Pokémon Go.

In Pokémon Go, the rarity of a Pokémon is determined by whether on not it spawns in the wild and the steps necessary to find it if it doesn’t. Some Pokémon are available only in very specific circumstances and, even if you find them, sometimes the chances of capturing it are below 1%.

Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres are the legendary trio from the first generation. These three are available in their regular version and in Galarian form. The only way to find a Galarian Articuno, Zapdos, or Moltres is by using the Daily Adventure Incense. Meaning that players only get 15 minutes a day to walk as far as possible, hoping to find them.

Another rare trio to find are the Lake Guardians: Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf. This trio is region restricted. Uxie is available in Asia and Pacific. Mesprit is only in Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India. Azelf can be found in the Americas. You can lure them with the Daily Adventure Incense but only the Lake Guardian from your region will show up.

Mewtwo is one of the strongest Pokemon in the game and one of the rarest. It’s available just occasionally through five-star raids. You need between four and eight high-level players to beat Mewtwo.

Pokemon Go had a limited release of Rotom in two of its form. Players could find Rotom the Go Fest in 2020 and them in the Go Fest 2022 in Berlin and Seattle. Rotom is no longer available and the only way to get one is by trading it with a friend.

Salandit can only be hatched through one of the extremely rare 12 KM eggs and, even then, getting a Salazzle is not guaranteed. Only a female Salandit can evolve into a Salazzle. Trainers need double the luck to get this Pokémon in their Pokedex.
