Warzone 2 won’t have raids, here’s why
The Call of Duty franchise released two titles in 2022, Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. Modern Warfare 2 announced it would be adding raids, leaving Warzone 2 players wondering if the feature would also be available to them. Warzone 2 doesn’t have raids and we’ll explain why.
For a player that is not familiar with the Call of Duty franchise, it would be easy to confuse Modern Warfare 2 with Warzone 2 and assume that both games have the same mechanics. This is not the case. Warzone 2 is a battle royale game, with players competing to be the last one standing on the map. Modern Warfare 2 is a first-person shooter played in rounds.
Raids were added to Modern Warfare 2, and the way it works is that players must meet certain requirements to get a Raid Assignment:
- Complete a specific Daily Challenge either in Multiplayer or Special Ops
- Place within the top 20 in any Warzone 2.0 battle royale playlist
- In DMZ, use the final extract helicopter with at least $30,000 in cash
Once players get a Raid Assignment, they will have one week to complete the raid. In order to get access to the raid again, they will need a new Raid Assignment.
Why does Warzone 2 not have raids?
You can get a Raid Assignment by placing in the top 20 in Warzone 2, but the raid is played in Modern Warfare 2. There are multiple reasons, it ultimately comes down to the capabilities of each gaming and programming. Warzone 2 is designed to be a game that you can take on your own, and for raids, it is mandatory to have teammates.
Implementing the engine changes necessary to add raids might not be worth it, considering that most players won’t be able to use it. If raids are something that interests you, then it’s time to consider switching games.
