Virtus.pro drops out of DOTA Summit 11 due to visa issues

Virtus.pro will be missing out on the DOTA Summit 11 minor due to issues with visas and the squad’s new roster not yet being at its full potential.

Virtus.pro withdrew from the first minor tournament of the 2019-20 Dota Pro Circuit season on October 17, the organization announced in a statement. It’s unfortunate for the team that qualified by winning the DOTA Summit 11 CIS Qualifier, but Virtus.pro’s general manager Roman Dvoryankin shared that additional pressure won’t sit well with the newly formed team, and they would rather take the time to prepare for ESL One Hamburg 2019.

Virtus.pro has visa issues, needs more practice

The Russian team had problems getting US visas so they could play the tournament in Los Angeles, due to a lack of clarification when it came to visa applications.

“Minor qualifiers have revealed our roster’s potential. However, we need time to fully reach it, and additional pressure can only get in the way,” Dvoryankin said. “Furthermore, problems with Visas were an additional factor, as missing the tournament due to ambiguous timings of our application reviews was a real possibility. We have put a lot of effort into things we could change, but there are factors beyond our control.“

Beyond the Summit shared on Twitter they are working with Team jfshfh178 in securing them visas so they could replace Virtus at the Summit, adding their regret that the three-time Dota Summit winners at Virtus.pro won’t be attending this year. Team jfshfh178 placed third in the CIS qualifier.

New VP roster to be tested at ESL One Hamburg 2019, the next Dota 2 major

After an unsuccessful run at The International 2019, Virtus went through a significant roster change. Pavel “9pasha” Khvastunov left to join Natus Vincere, and Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev departed for Evil Geniuses. Roman “Resolut1on” Fominok joined the team while switching to an offlane role, while Egor “epileptick1d” Grigorenko and Vitalie “Save-” Melnic currently play for Virtus.pro on a trial basis.

The shuffled team will be tested during ESL One Hamburg, starting from October 25, after which the organization will decide on the roster’s future.
