Vanity officially leaves eUnited after months on team’s bench

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player Anthony “vanity” Malaspina has announced that he is no longer a part of the eUnited organization. The North American player was benched by eUnited on November 10 in favor of a returning Kaleb “moose” Jayne.

Vanity joined eUnited in February 2019 and functioned as the team’s in-game leader during his time with the organization. His benching came after a string of poor results dating back to July 2019. During that period, eUnited finished in the top three in only three small tournaments and was unable to make any type of impression at the top tier events they attended.

The in-game leader spent time with Team Singularity and Swole Patrol before eUnited signed him to their Counter-Strike roster. With vanity at the helm, eUnited took home top placements in the qualifiers for IEM Sydney 2019 and DreamHack Rio Open, as well as second place in the qualifiers for DreamHack Masters Dallas. Once at those tournaments, however, eUnited failed to make any sort of progress. They finished near the bottom of all three tournaments.

eUnited fails to impact 2019 CSGO scene

eUnited struggled to make an impact on the North American Counter-Strike scene in 2019. The team is currently comprised of a mix of veteran CSGO players and young talent that made their way into the professional circuit through ESEA’s Rank S and FACEIT’s FPL programs.

After vanity’s departure the eUnited team is as follows:

  • Kaleb “moose” Jayne
  • Austin “Cooper-” Abadir
  • Edgar ” MarKE” Maldonado
  • Victor “food” Wong
  • Ryan “freakazoid” Abadir
  • Armeen “a2z” Toussi (Coach)

Though vanity was benched from the team in November, it did little to reverse eUnited’s fortunes. The team has been inconsistent even against regional-level opponents.

Its most recent result are losses in the open qualifiers to IEM Katowice 2020, where it came up short to New England Whalers in round one and Chaos Esports Club in round two. The team’s best performance over recent months came in WINNERS League Season 3, where the team amassed a 6-1 record during the group stage.

eUnited’s first match of 2020 will take place at the WINNERS League Season 3 playoffs. They will face off against the popular stream team Mythic in the first matchup of the single-elimination, best-of-three tournament which starts on January 11.

With the WINNERS League playoffs on the horizon and the MYTHIC Cup 5 starting tomorrow, eUnited has a chance to start off 2020 on the right foot. Given how they’ve struggled over recent weeks , but the team might be able to turn things around with a few solid outings.
