Valve opens a new CSGO store in-game with the latest update

In today’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive update, Valve added a search bar to the coupon section of the main menu, turning the usual four random coupons into a searchable shop of items, opening an in-game CSGO store that bypasses the Steam Market completely.

Valve now sells almost every CSGO sticker, capsule, graffiti box, and pin set that was available in the coupon section in a searchable database, effectively turning that section of the main menu into an in-game store.

In the patch notes, Valve called the change “experimental.” In reality, Valve is testing the waters for a full-blown cosmetic CSGO store where the company is the one that sets the prices.

Valve already does this with case keys, items used to open loot boxes that can drop in-game or be purchased on the Steam market. The search bar allows users to search for and purchase any item available for coupons, including music kits, individual stickers, pin capsules, and sticker capsules.

While not all items are available for a discount, they can now all be bought immediately using the search function.

When coupons were introduced, players were limited to four coupons a week that allowed them to purchase a random assortment of items at a discount. Now, Valve’s entire library of items purchasable by coupons is searchable and purchasable with the click of a button.

Valve’s CSGO “Store” is now live

Clicking the right arrow next to the coupons in the main menu reveals the search bar. Typing in even a single letter reveals a large number of items, both discounted and at what is now Valve’s retail price for the item.

Here’s a list of available items that is being updated as WIN.gg continues its coverage of Valve’s latest change to the way the corporation is taking control of its cash flow.
