Valorant agent 27: Codename, role, and release date info

Valorant agent 27 is coming, and fans are starting to find out some key details about Terra.

Riot Games has done strong work since Valorant’s release of keeping regular players engaged. At any given point, there’s a slow drip of information regarding the next major release in the game. Whether it’s a new stage, a new weapon, or a new agent, there’s always something on the horizon.

It’s not just this “drip marketing” that fans get excited about, though. As with any live-service game, data, code, and assets are often loaded into the game before being made visible to players. The latest demonstration of this is new information coming out on Valorant agent 27.

What role is Valorant agent 27?

Valorant agent 27 is set to be an initiator, though no details on their kit are known quite yet.

In terms of figuring out what this Valorant agent is, Riot Games posted a 30-second teaser trailer on X. It shows what appears to be a burly man drinking coffee or tea, who puts on a pair of sunglasses before he jumps out the back of a plane. Riot Games previously confirmed that the agent would be Colombian in origin.

This trailer is at odds with their in-game codename of “Terra.” The character debuts with the tease of aerials conflicts with their earthen implications of the name.

The name “Terra” strongly implies that Valorant agent 27 will have some sort of earth-based abilities. This can be taken in a few different directions as these skills could be interpreted as healing, disruptive, or defensive. It’s easy to imagine the character having abilities to shake the ground beneath enemies, hold them in place with fissures, or encase allies in protective sand. Precedent suggests that Riot Games does sometimes hint at an agent’s abilities with their codenames, as seen with “Nox” who was later officially dubbed Vyse.

Regardless, the current lineup of initiators in Valorant includes the likes of Sova, Breach, KAY/O, and Fade. These characters represent a diverse set of skills, albeit with the general theme of being able to scout out enemies or disable groups. Skye also introduces the idea of healing, so there would be precedent for Terra being able to heal allies as well.

Agent 27 release date

Valorant agent 27 is positioned to be added to Valorant on January 10, 2025.

Valorant Episode 9 Act 3’s battle pass wraps up on that date, which will mark the beginning of Valorant Episode 10 Act 1. When it comes to major content, Riot Games typically ships it in at the start of a new in-game season, while staggering the release of new skins.

Players can look forward to his release around that time, alongside a sizable in-game patch. Ahead of this, major changes to the game including Neon nerfs are also set to arrive in Valorant patch 9.11.
