Valkyrae discusses mental health troubles after RFLCT scandal
Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter is trying to put the RFLCT drama behind her.
The popular streamer and 100 Thieves co-owner endured a huge PR hit when she revealed the RFLCT skincare line. The company focused on protecting gamers from “blue light pollution,” something that hasn’t actually been proven to exist.
A conversation Valkyrae had with Ludwig supposedly leaked, showing she discussing her frustration with the company’s decisions. But for many in the streaming community, it was not enough to clear the streamer’s name.
Valkyrae later confirmed that the company had been shut down and she was no longer associated with it, but she became much more scarce on social media as the criticism continued. Now, the streamer has decided to speak up about the ongoing RFLCT drama.
What happened to Valkyrae?
Valkyrae has been much less active on social media since the controversy surrounding her RFLCT skincare line.
During a recent stream, Valkyrae revealed that she started seeing a therapist due to the situation. Fans asked about her mental health, prompting her to open up about her emotions regarding the experience.
“My mental health is the same. I have a lot of anxiety. But I don’t know how much of that is being caused by just me being unhealthy. I’m super unhealthy right now. It’s not nearly as terrible as it was when I was going through it those two weeks,” Valkyrae told fans.
The usually positive streamer admitted that she had been having a lot of “dark thoughts” during that time but said that those thoughts have lessened. Still, Valkyrae said she plans to improve her diet, get better sleep, and do anything else it takes to make her feel less “blah.”
“I’m in more of a positive mindset than a negative mindset. I’m more grateful for the things that I do have. I have a lot to be grateful for. So, I feel like something like this…I don’t want to let it hinder me anymore,” Valkyrae said.
Valkyrae discusses account hacks
Ever since Valkyrae’s return to social media after the RFLCT fiasco, she has been discussing her feelings and experiences with her community.
According to Valkyrae, she had been hacked in 2019 after being threatened for an entire year. The hackers even live streamed from her Twitch account after taking control of her socials. Luckily, she added, she had nothing to hide that was worth leaking.
“It was the most stressful thing ever,” Valkyrae said at the time. “But I was prepared.”
