Even though Twitch is known fo itsr inconsistent bans and punishments, the streaming community has still shocked by the company’s sudden decision to unban ExoHydraX.
ExoHydraX was banned at the height of the hot tub meta in the summer of 2021. At the time, ExoHydraX was wearing a revealing bathing suit and hanging out in a blow-up hot tub, much like other popular adult content creators at the time. But ExoHydraX was banned after being accused of “twerking for views,” something she has denied doing.
“Good luck being black and being a streamer on Twitch. I do the exact same content that white girls do but yet I get banned but they don’t? Beyond disappointing. This isn’t okay,” ExoHydraX wrote in a since-deleted tweet.
Now, eight months later, Twitch has decided to unban ExoHydraX’s account.
ExoHydraX called out Twitch for being racist last year but has since been largely silent about the manner. That’s what made it all the more surprising when ExoHydraX was suddenly unbanned on April 4 just eight months later.
ExoHydraX may be unbanned, but she is still not feeling too impressed with Twitch. She told Dexerto that curvier women were seen as “more sexual” even if they are wearing and doing the same things as other women. She tweeted that she will not yet be returning to that specific Twitch channel.
While hot tub streaming is part of some content creators’ lifestyle, ExoHydraX described it as the “thot live stream grind” that she now considers a “thing of the past.” Instead, she prompted her followers to check out her Instagram while she works on a new Twitch channel announcement.
For now, the streaming community is confused as to why Twitch decided to unban ExoHydraX out of the blue. It’s possible that it’s related to her racism accusations, but it’s unclear why Twitch wouldn’t take any action until now when the matter had long-since been withdrawn from the public eye and ExhoHydraX herself seemed to have moved on.
