A brand new leak has shared some surprising news about Metroid Prime 4.
Nintendo initially announced that a fourth game in the Metroid Prime series was in the works back in 2017. A teaser trailer at E3 showed the Metroid Prime logo made of clouds and mysterious blue light before the number four appeared in front of it, catching fire. But ever since this 43-second video, fans of the series have been left in the dark.
New leak gets fans excited about Metroid Prime 4
By 2019 it had been two years since the teaser and there had been nothing further about the game from Nintendo. Then, fans caught wind that the project was being handed over to Retro Studios. While this at least put Metroid Prime in the spotlight again, it also left fans distraught since it meant there were going to be setbacks in the game’s progress.
Then in the last few days of 2022, Metroid Prime fans caught a break. GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit mod Spheromancer claimed to have some updates on the highly anticipated game. Spheromancer stated that the leaks came from someone who had also correctly predicted Skyward Sword, Splatoon 3, and even the name of the new Legend of Zelda game, Tears of the Kingdom.
As proof of the Nintendo insider’s credentials, Spheromancer shared a previous Reddit message from them that correctly predicted some big news for Zelda fans. The leaker, Fun_Way_6592 had reached out one day before the most recent Nintendo Direct, which ended up having a lot of new information about Tears of the Kingdom.
Now, the leaker has their sights on Metroid Prime 4.
Fun_Way_6592 privately messaged Spheromancer again, this time stating, “Do you think everyone is primed and ready?”
Unfortunately, it’s unclear what the upcoming Metroid Prime 4 information will be. According to Spheromancer, the “mysterious little f—er” didn’t respond to their inquiries. But Spheromancer is still confident that it’s a legitimate hint.
“He has an undefeated record, however, so let the speculation begin. I’d obviously guess this means a Metroid Prime reveal is coming very soon,” they said.
Fans are currently conflicted about the rumor. In the past, the insider would share information a day or so before the information became public. But this would mean that Metroid Prime 4 news was coming during New Year weekend, which many felt was strange timing. It didn’t seem likely that Nintendo would announce anything about Metroid Prime 4 during the hectic weekend.
Of course, this doesn’t mean the news won’t come later, like in January. Previous leaks have pointed to an announcement of some sort in January of 2023, so this lines up.
But it’s also uncertain if any news will come at all, since Nintendo hasn’t made any official statements itself. For now, Metroid fans will have to anxiously wait.
