Top 10 gaming and esports streamers on Twitch

Twitch has taken the center stage in the explosion of gaming and esports streaming over the last few years. Recent stats show that Twitch has more than three million broadcasters and over 15 million active users daily. Most streamers use the platform to share their live gaming experiences.

Viewers watch the top streamers just as they would watch their favorite TV show. With professional graphic overlays, smooth transitions, and custom sound effects, streams are looking more professional than ever. There are quite a few ways to rank esports and gaming streamers on Twitch. We can use the number of followers for a steamer or the total number of channel views, among other means. For this piece, we have taken into account a number of factors and presented our picks for the top 10 esports and gaming streamers on Twitch.

  1. Rubius

With 7.8 million followers, Rubius currently is the fourth most subscribed channel on Twitch. El Rubius is of Spanish-Norwegian origin and mainly streams Minecraft among other games including Fortnite, Dreadhalls, and Dark Fracture.

Rubius’s Twitch channel followed his widely popular YouTube channel, which currently has around 40 million subscribers. In March 2018, he broke the record for the most concurrent viewers during a Fortnite stream with over 1.1 million viewers at a time. He also won the “YouTuber of the Year” award in 2016.

  1. Ninja

It would probably be unfair to talk about Twitch and not talk about Tyler “Ninja” Blevins. Despite leaving the platform to stream on Mixer back in 2019, Ninja has returned with an exclusive deal and is currently the most-followed streamer on Twitch with 16.5 million subscribers. 

He is widely popular for his Fortnite streams. From September 2017 to March 2018, his followers grew from 500,000 to 2 million. Before Rubius, Ninja held the record for most concurrent viewers on Twitch with 635,000.

  1. S1mple

Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev is one of the top-tier players in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive history. He may not be the most followed streamer on Twitch, but the fact that he streams regularly is a treat for anybody who loves CSGO.

  1. Asmodai

Christoffer Asmodai is from Norway and plays Hearthstone. In 2019, he became better known for streaming every single day of the year. Fans appreciate his personality and his being engaged with his followers. 

  1. AuronPlay

Along with owning the seventh most-followed account on Twitch,  Raúl Álvarez Geneshas a YouTube channel with 26.2 million subscribers. He is a variety streamer and streams games such as Minecraft, Grand Theft Auto V, and Among Us.

Forbes Spain included him in the list of top 100 influencers in Spain for the year 2020. Although he streams less now, he was still one of the most-watched streamers in the year 2020. On average, he has about 98,000 viewers on his streams.

  1. Shroud

Recognized as one of the best pure aimers in the streaming world, Michael “shroud” Grzesiek, got over 500,000 concurrent views in August 2020. Previously known for his CSGO play, he mostly sticks to Valorant. He went off Twitch to Mixer for a while but has made a triumphant return. 

With an average of 60,000 viewers, Shroud clearly is one of the top 10 esports and gaming streamers on Twitch. 

  1. xQc

Félix Lengyel streams from the channel xQcow and belongs to esports organization Luminosity Gaming. A former professional Overwatch player, he is now a full-time variety streamer on Twitch and ranks fifth on the most-followed streamers list. He streams as many as 10 hours a day, with very few off days. He averages about 40,000 viewers. He ended the year 2020 with 23 million hours of watch time.

  1. NICKMERCS

Nick Kolcheff streams from his channel Nickmercs and is the leading Call of Duty: Warzone player on Twitch. He has competed in Fortnite and he continues to be one of the best battle royale players on Twitch. He now racks in 43,000 viewers per stream with 4.9 million followers.

  1. Tommyinnit

Thomas Simons currently owns the fastest-growing channel on Twitch. With his mind-blowing Minecraft skills, this 16-year-old Brit had whooping 192,346 viewers per stream in December 2020. He started last year with modest 26,000 followers but has grown to around 3 million followers in no time.

  1. Sodapoppin

Chance “Sodapoppin” Morris is hard to stop. He is a true variety streamer and prone to some controversy, but with 5.9 million followers he is truly one of the top 10 esports and gaming streamers on Twitch.
