Popular streamer Imane “Pokimane” Anys has surprised fans by announcing a sudden break from streaming.
Pokimane is one of the top female streamers on Twitch, averaging tens of thousands viewers during every stream. She has over 9.2 million followers thanks to her laid back Just Chatting streams and talent in popular games like Valorant. But Pokimane has decided she needs a break from constant content creation and broadcasting.
Pokimane took to Twitter on July 19 to share a message with her fans. She said she was taking some time off from streaming on Twitch, adding a screenshot of a short note.
“I’ve been feeling in need of a mental reset and some time to focus on myself [and] my life offline,” Pokimane said.
Pokimane shared that she is taking a break from Twitch to focus on her mental health. This doesn’t mean Pokimane is necessarily stressed or dealing with any particular struggles. Instead, Pokimane explained that breaks are “essential” to having career longevity and health.
“Thanks for putting me in a position where I’m able to take time off like this,” Pokimane said.
Pokimane also told her fans to take care of themselves and take stay hydrated.
Pokimane did not specify when she will be returning to Twitch, most likely wanting to take time to herself without a deadline. She did say that she is “looking forward to coming back” later on and making more content.
Her note ended with a simple “see you soon,” which means she may not be gone for long. For now, however, it’s a mystery when Pokimane will be back on Twitch. In the past, Pokimane has taken some pretty long breaks, including one that was about a full month long last year.
In August last year, Pokimane admitted she was scared to take streaming breaks.
““It is just so hard to properly enjoy your time off without thinking that you should or could be doing more, especially with streaming,” Pokimane explained at the time.
