This is how the pros build new League champion Vex
Vex is the latest addition to League of Legends’ roster of over 150 champions. She’s a darker spin on Yordles, and functions as an anti-mobility control mage with serious combo potential. But as with any champion that’s new to the rift, the correct build on Vex is still being experimented with.
We’ll take a look at what the best players in the world are doing for Vex’s build and how you can take that into your games.
Vex masteries & summoner spells
Vex’s kit leans heavily into her ability to counter mobile champions, interrupting their escapes or following them across the map. She has very little mobility herself and requires items to scale properly. For this reason, many professional players are opting for Teleport as her secondary summoner spell after Flash. This gives her more opportunities to easily move around the map.
For masteries, the choice seems to be between Arcane Comet and Electrocute. Vex can easily proc both masteries, and her fear can guarantee that the comet lands should she opt for the Sorcery tree.
For Sorcery, take Manaflow Band, Transcendence, and Scorch to fill out the page, with Inspiration secondary. If you’re opting for Vex’s more offensive build options, look at Taste of Blood, Eyeball Collection, and Ravenous Hunter with Inspiration as well.
Vex item builds
Vex’s items are also split into two camps, some players opting for Everfrost’s crowd control, while others are opting for Luden’s Tempest its bigger damage. Both synergize well with Vex.
Vex wants to land a quick and impactful series of spells before waiting for her cooldowns to reset. For this purpose, Luden’s Tempest rewards Vex for doing what she already wants to do. These bursts of damage can lead to powerful combos, as famous streamer Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp demonstrated in a highlight clip.
Conversely, Everfrost offers to Vex additional ways to punish opponents that are out of position. When combined with Vex’s passive ability to fear enemy champions, Everfrost becomes a nearly-guaranteed root. This option is great in environments with more coordinated team play, as Vex can use it to create opportunities for teammates.
Whichever way you go, Vex is a powerful champion for almost any composition to have.
