Another intense LEC split is behind us, leaving the six best teams left to play for the 2021 LEC Summer Split trophy and the three European region’s spots at the 2021 World Championship.Â
All teams fought hard during the 18 regular-season games and are now being rewarded with a spot in the playoffs, some with a higher seed than others. The LEC is known for being close in the standings, but this split was something out of the ordinary. A total of three teams were completely tied in the standings for second place, resulting in head-to-head matchups having to decide the final seeding.

This split’s first playoff matchups are decided by the seeding from the regular split results. With a stellar performance throughout all weeks, Rogue enters the playoffs in first seed and will be taking on Misfits Gaming who fell short on the last day and was left on the fourth seed. Â
The second seed miraculously went to G2 Esports, who finished the regular season with five wins in a row. Even though some of those wins were very close, the former LEC kings have put themselves in a great spot to reclaim the throne and secure another trip to the World Championship. G2 will be facing defending LEC champion MAD Lions, who also managed a bit of a climb in the standings during the last weeks of the regular season.Â

After the first weekend of games, the winners in the upper bracket will move on to battle each other for a direct spot in the final. The two upper-bracket losers will drop down to the lower bracket, where Fnatic and Vitality will fight for survival right from the first set of games. Losing in the lower bracket means elimination, so this is where everything will be on the line.Â
The LEC final will be played on Sunday, August 29.

This year’s last LEC playoff is set to kick off on Friday, August 13, and will conclude a little more than two weeks later on Sunday, August 29 with the grand final. Since the LEC format is full of best-of-five matches and has a lower bracket, there will be plenty of good games to watch.Â
The main goal of the playoffs for the teams will be winning the trophy, but there will also be three qualification spots for the 2021 World Championship on the line. The first and second-place finishers will be granted a direct spot to the Worlds main event while the third-place team from the playoffs will have to go through the play-in stage at the event.Â
