The next MonsterVerse film release date has been revealed

The next MontserVerse movie now has a release date.

After Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, kaiju fans have been wondering what’s next for the two titans. It looks like we will now find out but it will be a long wait.

The next MonsterVerse movie will be released on March 26, 2027. That’s a little under three years from now. So it will be a while until we see the next chapter in the Godzilla and King Kong-focused kaiju story unfold.

Grant Sputore will be directing the sixth MonsterVerse film and Dave Callaham will be writing the screenplay.

What will the next MonsterVerse movie be about?

Right now, the plot of the next MonsterVerse film is a complete mystery. But there are some theories and hopes from G-Man fans.

Godzilla x Kong took place three years after MechaGodzilla was destroyed. Godzilla has settled into his role as earth’s defender and often finds himself killing incoming kaiju and resting in monuments in between. Meanwhile, Kong is trying to make sense of the emptiness of Hollow Earth, where his ancestors once ruled. He finds out that his colony has been enslaved by Skar King, who rules in fear by controlling the scary powers of Shimo.

Kong knows he can’t take down Skar King and his army alone so he goes to Earth to ask for Godzilla’s help. This doesn’t go well, of course, and Godzilla starts fighting Kong to defend his rule over Earth. That is, until Mothra arrives and knocks some sense into him.

The two join forces in Hollow Earth, with Godzilla more powerful than ever thanks to taking down Tiamat and absorbing her atomic energy. With help from Monarch humans, who are sorta mid to watch as usual, Godzilla and Kong take down Skar King, free Shimo, and restore order to Hollow Earth. At this point, Godzilla goes back to Earth to sleep in the Colosseum.

This has left fans wondering who will end up waking Godzilla up next. A lot of fans believe that Monarch and the rest of the planet will have become sick of Godzilla and other kaiju destroying cities every time they fight. But then Space Godzilla will come down to Earth, forcing Godzilla and the gang to fight off this intergalactic nightmare to keep the world safe. Another possibility is Destroyah, another popular iconic kaiju that has yet to featured in a MonsterVerse film.

Others wonder if there will be a Mothra-focused film. She is a beloved kaiju that has proven why she’s so beloved in Godzilla x Kong. A movie that looks deeper into her lore may be of great interest, especially if she is fighting by Godzilla’s side.

In general, fans want more Godzilla. The last few films have felt much more focused on King Kong, possibly due to his popularity in the US and his more human emotions and connections. But now, Godzilla fans want the G-Man to get more screen time and have even more epic fights. A serious and intense Godzilla film is highly desired.
