After Microsoft acquired Bethesda in 2021, gamers wondered if PlayStation players would be out of luck when it came to Bethesda titles, especially the long-awaited Elder Scrolls 6. Will it be on PlayStation 5?

The Elder Scrolls 6 is not coming soon enough for most gamers. The long-awaited sequel has been much discussed, even by Bethesda itself. We have finally received some official information on the far off release and it’s not information that has pleased all gamers.

Will Elder Scrolls 6 be an Xbox exclusive?

Reporter Stephen Totilo recently tweeted about an unsealed document from the Federal Trade Commission that discusses the future of Bethesda’s games after the acquisition.

Totilo stated that Xbox’s Phil Spencer discussed The Elder Scrolls 6 in great length during his testimony at the hearing against Microsoft. This included some unfortunate news that it’s more than “five years out” and that it’s not coming to every platform.

According to the report obtained by Totilo, The Elder Scrolls 6 will only be launched for Xbox and PC.

This isn’t much of a surprise to the gaming world. Starfield was also not released on PlayStation and Spencer has discussed exclusivity in the past. A GQ interview in 2021 had Spencer commenting on the game’s future on Xbox, not mentioning Sony at all.

Given that The Elder Scrolls 6 is not coming out until 2026 or later, it’s unclear if the game will even make it onto the Xbox Series X | S. Instead, there may be next generation consoles by then, including a new Xbox. This is pretty wild considering the game was announced in 2018.
