The complete guide to effectively using the Operator in Valorant
The complete guide to effectively using the Operator in Valorant
The Operator has always remained under professional players’ scope for not being deadly enough but it’s still one of the best weapons in Valorant.
Snipers in Valorant often get criticized for being a bit slow but these weapons are still prefered due to the high damage rate. Many players prefer the Operator for its one-shot kill potential that can de lethal when equipped with the correct agent.
Operator stats, damage rate, and more
The Operator has no drop-off damage in range, which adds to its viability. The weapon renders the same damage in the 0-50m range. The Operator has the highest damage per bullet out of all the guns in the game. It takes away a minimum of 100 and a maximum of 255 health upon bullet interaction. However, all of these features come at a hefty price of 4700 credits.
Here are all the stats for Operator.

While the Operator certainly has many features that set it apart as the most potent weapon in the game, it also has a few drawbacks. The sniper can slow you down in certain situations due to its heavy weight, leaving you vulnerable in many cases. To top it off, the slow equip time doesn’t help in escaping or picking a duel against a rifler in close-range battles.
How and when to use the Operator in Valorant

The Operator may be a powerful pick but it won’t win you games all the time. Using OP on the attacker’s side may negatively impact your scoreboard and your entire team if you’re not exceptionally good at it. If you’re an aggressive player who’s the ultimate firepower for the squad, you may want to avoid using the Sniper.
Using the Operator on the attacker side of a small map like Bind will damage the team economy, run down the time, and ultimately lose you the game. However, feel free to pick the big gun if you’re playing a large map like Breeze and your team needs you to watch flank. On the defender’s side of Breeze or Ascent, it’s highly recommended to set Operator at some point of the map to keep the mercenaries at bay.
The weapon will warrant easy kills at long range even if you render 127 damage enemy after shooting at the legs. In larger maps, you can even afford to whiff shots as it’s easier to re-scope and get a second chance to finish off a wounded, fully-armored enemy with 150 health. On smaller maps, you can avoid dying to close enemies by picking Jett. The duelist is an ideal agent for OP players, as her dash allows a second chance at life when you whiff a shot.
How to double scope with Operator
Make sure you’re zooming in correctly when you’re repping the OP on large maps. The double zoom not only helps in landing satisfying kills in long-range, but it can help you garner intel for your team. Here’s how you fully zoom in.
- Go to your Valorant settings
- Go to Controls
- Find the “Toggle zoom level” option
- Set it on any key closer to the fire button
- Press scope-in (hold/toggle) key and then press zoom key to double scope
