Team Yassuo beats Team Tyler1, Europe tramples NA in Twitch Rivals
The Twitch Rivals show matches featuring some of League of Legends’ most popular streamers saw Team Europe and Team Yassuo come out on top. The matches were played at TwitchCon 2019 in San Diego, California.
The first set of games featured a team of European streamers taking on their North American counterparts. The second set, named Rumble on the Rift, pitted teams led by Tyler “tyler1” Steinkamp and Hammoudi “Yassuo” Abdalrhman against each other.
Team Europe, which featured personalities like Julain “GobGG” Treuger and Daniel “ElOjoNinja” Cotilla, proved to be stronger, sweeping the NA team 2-0. Rabia “Nightblue3” Yazbek and Jared “anniebot” Carr were some of the team members of Team NA.
Team Europe dominated across the whole series, winning both games in just over 20 minutes to earn $20,000. As the second-place team, Team NA earned $5,000.
The second best-of-three match was a bit less one-sided, with Team Yassuo eventually taking the set 2-1. Team Yassuo got a strong lead early and steadily grew it to a 10,000 gold advantage which allowed them to take down Team Tyler1 to win the first game. However, Team Tyler1 didn’t go down easily and turned the tables in the second game, to force a deciding game three.
Although it was hotly contested contested, Team Yassuo took the win in the third game, to score a $20,000 check of their own. The prize is shared between Imane “Pokimane” Anys, Albert “BoxBox” Zheng, Tim “Trick2g” Foley, Allen “xFSN Saber, and, of course, Yassuo. Like Team NA, Team Tyler1 splits $5,000 between Tyler1, Joedat “Voyboy” Esfahani, Nightblu3, Danny “Shiphtur” Le, and Lily “Lilypichu” Ki.
Alongside the League of Legends Twitch Rivals series were events in Fortnite and Teamfight Tactics. Fans wanting to get in on some esports action action at TwitchCon can still look forward to an Apex Legends event on September 29, the final day of the show.
