Team Liquid vs. Cloud9 booked for LCS Lock In finals
Team Liquid destroyed Evil Geniuses in the 2021 LCS Lock In semifinals and is advancing to face Cloud9 in the finals.
Team Liquid showed no mercy to Evil Geniuses in their semifinals match. Evil Geniuses, which had a good run in the 2021 LCS Lock In, didn’t stand a chance against a relentless Team Liquid. At no point in the three-game series did Evil Geniuses look like a challenge for Team Liquid. While every Team Liquid member had an outstanding performance, it wouldn’t have been possible without Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in.

CoreJJ is not only the best support in the LCS, but he is also probably the best player in the LCS altogether. No other player in the LCS contributes to their team the way that CoreJJ contributes to Team Liquid thanks to his playmaking, aggression, and leadership. The shot-calling coming from the support is peerless and is something that other teams are trying to replicate, as was seen with Team SoloMid signing Hu “SwordArt” Shuo-Chieh to a record-breaking $6 million contract.
With CoreJJ in the driver’s seat, Team Liquid has evolved to become a precise, decisive team. Having two new members can throw any team off-balance, especially if one of the new additions is a jungler. Junglers have their own way to approach the game and their styles affect the entire team as a whole. That’s not the case for the 2021 version of Team Liquid. The team is looking better and scarier than ever, and stands as the likely favorite to win the 2021 LCS Spring Split.

In the semifinals series, Evil Geniuses tried every trick in the book and Team Liquid had an answer for each one. If Evil Geniuses wanted to fight, Team Liquid got better positioning. If Evil Geniuses wanted to play slowly, Team Liquid pushed the tempo. By game three, it became clear that Evil Geniuses’ players were mentally checked out of the series and Team Liquid collected an easy win. Now, Team Liquid is heading to finals where it will be facing Cloud9.
