Team Liquid is reportedly close to signing Alphari
After a lot of speculation about the popular top laner Barney “Alphari” Morris, it seems that he might be going to Team Liquid.
According to ESPN, the European pro is close to signing a multi-year deal with Team Liquid. The LCS team has been known for importing amazing players and Alphari might be the next in line. If the deal goes through, Alphari will replace former world champion Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong, who has been a part of Liquid for almost three years.
Will Alphari join Team Liquid?
The deal will reportedly entitle Alphari to more than $1 million per year in total, which will likely be one of the biggest contracts in League of Legends history. Even though Alphari can’t sign a new contract until the free agency window opens on November 16, he is allowed to look for other options. The former Origen top laner has allegedly been in talks with both
Rogue and Vitality in the LEC
and maybe also other LCS teams. According to ESPN sources, he has even been in talks with Fnatic, who recently had an impressive showing at the 2020 World Championship.
Alphari will be joining a Liquid team, who had a shaky year but ended up performing honorably at Worlds. The team didn’t make it out of the group stage but managed to beat both G2 Esports and Suning.
Liquid is one of the most interesting teams in this offseason since a lot of its player’s contracts are ending. It’s also expected that Liquid will swap out in the jungle position, where Danish Mads “Broxah” Brock-Pedersen has been playing on a one-year contract.
If the sources are true, Alphari will likely be officially announced on November 16 following many other offseason news.
