Europe is the first to fall as Team Liquid has been sent home from Valorant Champions.

Team Liquid, the winners of the EMEA regional league during the main season, were the first to be eliminated from the most anticipated Valorant tournament in the calendar following a loss to Brazilian team LOUD. The first elimination match was a back-and-forth contest between two of the regional titans from EMEA and the Americas.

LOUD downs Liquid in two maps at Valorant Champions

LOUD was dominant on the first map Haven. The Brazilian team managed to bulldoze Team Liquid with a 13-2 scoreline. An impressive performance from Felipe “Less” de Loyola saw him accumulate 190 average damage per round and 18 kills, according to data collected by VLR.gg

Team Liquid had to bounce back on the second map, or its tournament life was on the line. The first few rounds were back and forth between the two squads, but Liquid managed to take the lead for the first time in the series toward halftime. But the string of rounds would be shortlived, as LOUD managed to take back control of the game shortly after with a series of clutch wins. LOUD went on to finish the match following a victory of seven rounds in a row.

LOUD is set to face off against European team Natus Vincere in the decider match to secure a place in the playoff stage, which is set to begin on August 16. With the loss today, the season is over for Liquid as the team will return to Europe to rebuild for the next season of the EMEA league next year.

Valorant Champions is set to continue later today with FunPlus Phoenix facing off against T1 and Paper Rex to challenge EDward Gaming in the final match of the day.
