T1 has announced a new collaboration with wildly popular musical act BTS.

T1 and BTS are two names that need no introduction. The most popular esports organization in the world and the most popular boy band are collaborating for the first time. Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, Park “Teddy” Jin-sung, Lee “Effort” Sang-ho, Mun “Cuzz” Uchan, and Kim “Canna” Chang-dong are the first special guests of Run BTS, a variety show produced by Big Hit.

T1 and BTS are no strangers to each other. In a 2017 interview, the BTS singers admitted to being big fans of SK Telecom T1 and Faker. Jin, one of the BTS members, is an avid League of Legends player. Jin also confessed to being a Jhin main. Jungkook is known for being a highly-skilled Overwatch player that mains Widowmaker.

T1’s Effort is a known BTS fan and has sported the group’s merch in the past. BTS’ V is the inspiration behind Effort’s blue hair.

T1 and BTS get to know each other

Run BTS is the first variety show of its kind hosted by the group with T1 as its first guests. The show consisted of ice-breaking games, singing, and dancing competitions, games of Mundo dodgeball, and more.

“It was quite an experience and honor to be the first official guests on ‘Run BTS!,’ especially being able to meet them in person and share each other’s interests,” T1 mid laner and co-owner Faker said in a statement. “It might have been a short time, but it was awesome for us as some of the cultural leaders of Korea to come together and hopefully we can meet the group again in the near future.”

This is a high-profile collaboration for T1, as BTS has achieved global recognizability and garnered a large, dedicated fanbase. This is a great way to christen a new era for T1, where it is officially a franchised team in the LCK.

Run BTS debuts with the T1 appearance on November 3 through global fan community platforms Weverse and V app.
