Survive Fire Damage in Fortnite: Tips to complete the quest
One of Fortnite’s trickier challenges in chapter 5 Season 4 is to survive fire damage. It may sound daunting at first, but with the right steps, you can easily check this quest off. Whether you’re after some XP or working the Doom quests, this guide will tell you all about it.
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 introduced the Absolute Doom Battle Pass. At the start, players were wondering if they would be able to unlock the Marvel supervillain outfit. Thankfully, the introduction of Doom quests can now help them obtain the Doctor Doom outfit. However, the one Doom quest requires you to survive fire damage, in order to complete and obtain the skin. This is a tricky quest, but thankfully, we can tell you how to complete it.
Survive Fire Damage at a gas station
The most straightforward way to take fire damage in Fortnite is by blowing up a gas pump at one of the many gas stations scattered around the map. Gas stations are marked by a fuel pump icon and are found all over the map. The steps of completing the quest this way are as follows:
- Land near a gas station
after you drop from the battle bus.
- Obtain shields and health items for safety after landing.
- Destroy one of the gas pumps
using either your pickaxe or a weapon you found while obtaining health or safety items.
- Be careful not to stand too close as the explosion could eliminate you or knock you out.
- After the pump explodes, a fire will erupt on the ground.
Simply walk into the fire and take damage
- Make sure you don’t stay in the fire too long – just enough to take some damage.
By repeating these steps, if not completed in one try, you can easily complete the quest and survive fire damage.
Firefly Jars – Another option
If Gas Stations are too crowded, or they are surrounded by enemies, you can also use Firefly Jars. Fireflies spawn in the forested areas, especially in the norther part of the map. The steps to complete the quest via Firefly jars is as follows:
- Collect Firefly Jars and throw one at the ground.
- This in turn will set the ground on fire.
- Walk into the fire
- Just like the gas station method, simply walk into fire for a short amount of time to sustain and survive the fire damage.
Car Destruction – Inefficient but works
While it is not as efficient as options above, this method can help you if you run out of options. Simply destroying a car and walking into the resulting fire is another method to sustain and survive fire damage.
- Shoot or hit a car until it explodes
- Again, make sure not to stand too close as it can take you out.
- Make sure you have health items as a precaution, too.
- Simply walk into the fire
- Just like the steps above, simply walk in to the fire in order to sustain and survive fire damage.
Car destruction is a potentially risky and time-consuming method. The unpredictability of car explosion make it the last option you should opt for.
Other tips (Healing, repeating, and minor alternatives)
It’s important to have healing items on hand when attempting this challenge. As mentioned numerous time, shields are great for soaking up the damage. Health items like MedKits and Bandages will help you recover quickly after taking and surviving fire damage.
Unfortunately, to fully complete the challenge, you’ll need to take fire damage four separate times. You can either repeat the gas station method or find other ways. Torches and campfires are also viable, but quite possibly the worst ways of completing the quest. Gas stations remain the most reliable and consisted source of fire for now.
Reward for surviving fire damage
Once you’ve completed the quest and survived fire damage four times, you’ll be rewarded with 20,000 XP. This will unlock items for progressing through the Doom quests. Completing this challenge is essential for unlocking special cosmetics, including the sought-after Doctor Doom outfit.
Surviving fire damage in Fortnite doesn’t have to be stressful. Stick ot the gas stations, prepared yourself with healing items, and repeat the process until you’ve completed the challenge. Hopefully Doctor Doom place you under his royal protection and you successfully obtain the skin.
