Superman: Legacy reveals Green Lantern and Hawkgirl cast
Jul 12, 2023
Superman: Legacy added some unexpected characters to its cast. Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and Mister Terrific will be part of the movie.
Back in June, Superman: Legacy announced David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan as Clark Kent and Lois Lane, respectively. Now, the movie is adding some unexpected characters to its roster.
Isabela Merced, known for her work in Transformers: The Last Knight and Dora and the Lost City of Gold, will play Hawkgirl. Nathan Fillion, known for his work in Castle and Suicide Squad, is Green Lantern Guy Gardner.
Edi Gathegi, known for X-Men: First Class and Twilight, will play Mister Terrific. Anthony Carrigan is known for his work in Gotham, and Barry is Metamorpho.
James Gunn, writer, and director for the movie, shared his excitement through Threads. Gunn also confirmed that all the actors cast in Superman: Legacy would be taking over the role in the entire DCU.
Superman: Legacy release date
Superman: Legacy, which serves as yet another reboot for the DCU, will open on July 11, 2025. The movie is expected to start shooting early next year. However, this timeline might experience some delays.
According to some journalists, this series of quick announcements might be a response to the allegedly imminent SAG-AFTRA strike. It’s possible that Gunn was in a rush to get the main cast secured before the strike halted any negotiations.
SAG-AFTRA is the labor union representing film and television actors in North America. Much like the Writers Guild of America, SAG-AFTRA was in negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers or AMPTP. Back in June, SAG-AFTRA passed a vote authorizing a strike if the negotiations with AMPTP failed. If rumors are anything to go by, on July 13, all film and television actors in North America will go on strike, delaying all productions indefinitely.
