Lucasfilms made some important announcements during the 2023 Europe Star Wars Celebration and revealed every upcoming Star Wars project, including three movies.

There are three new live-action Star Wars movies on the way. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy delivered the good news during the Lucasfilm Studio Showcase. The new trilogy will touch three different points in the timeline and will be directed by three different directors. James Mangold, who directed the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, is focusing on the dawn of the Jedi.

Dave Filoni, who has worked in The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, will tell a story about the New Republic. This movie will connect to The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and the upcoming Disney+ show Ahsoka.

The third movie will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who worked on Ms. Marvel. This is perhaps one of the most exciting announcements since the movie will take place after the events of Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, starring Daisy Ridley. The film will follow Rey as she rebuilds the Jedi Order.

“Now we’re looking to broaden that timeline, building a rich future, expanding upon the present, going deep into the past to tell our stories,” said Kennedy.

Upcoming Star Wars shows in Disney+

During the event, new Star Wars shows were announced. The Acolyte is an upcoming show that follows the story of a Wookie named Kenacca and a Jedi Master. The cast includes Amandla Stenberg and Squid Games’ Lee Jung-Jae.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is another upcoming show by the same team behind the MCU Spider-Man trilogy. It follows four kids who end up on an adventure to make their way home after being lost. The show is scheduled for release in 2023.

The release date for Ahsoka was revealed. The show is coming to the Disney+ screen on August 2023. During the showcase, Season 2 of Andor was also confirmed.
