Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhaylov may continue his career as a top in-game leader according to leaks from his former star teammate.

During a streaming session with Russian rapper Alisher “MORGENSHTERN” Morgenshtern, Natus Vincere’s Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev may have may have leaked the next Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team to sign Boombl4. The information is not conclusive, but s1mple has a record of revealing correct insider information.

According to s1mple, the new team most likely to pick up Boombl4 is G2 Esports. He revealed the information during a long stream with MORGENSHTERN. While s1mple was forthcoming with the rumor, he also stated that he is not certain that it will be the case. Another team could pick up Boombl4 instead, or Boombl4 could continue to pursue a career in music.

“Rumors say that he will move to an international team… G2. But, knowing him, I don’t think they will take him there. But those are just my thoughts,” s1mple said, according to unofficial translation.

The IGL position opened up after a surprising Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen kick. That move was prompted by a poor finish at IEM Cologne, where G2 expected to land on the podium. Boombl4 is definitely in the discussion as the team’s new captain, but how likely is it that the international squad picks him up?

How likely is Boombl4 joining G2 Esports as his new team?

Boombl4 joining G2 Esports seems farfetched, but he may be seeking to put his recent scandals behind him. There’s a very real chance that Boombl4 joins G2 Esports, though the roster’s success with him on board is difficult to predict.

Boombl4 is a skilled IGL at the top level. His unique lurking style makes rotating against him fraught with danger, and his ability to entry frag can come in handy. While there are other European IGLs in the market that could work, Boombl4 is by far the most decorated.

But the controversy involving his wife continues to haunt his image. It’s worth noting that Boombl4 has taken steps toward resolving the controversy, specifically divorcing his wife and denying her allegations against him. But the issue was still enough to get Boombl4 kicked out of his major-winning Na`Vi team.

As for G2 specifically, the organization is committed to winning championships and Boombl4 already has a major under his belt. Boombl4’s relative lack in firepower is also counterbalanced by the fragging skills of star players Nikola “NiKo” Kovač and Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov. If G2 does decide to pick up Boombl4, expect to see an announcement before the team plays at BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2022 beginning August 19.
