Riot Games investigates Griffin after accusations from cvMax

Riot Games Korea has launched a full investigation into the contract conditions of JD Gaming’s jungler Seo “Kanavi” Jin-hyeok. The decision comes after a series of worrying statements from Griffin’s former head coach, Kim “cvMax” Dae-ho.

Griffin’s behind the scene drama continues. In September, the organization announced that it had mutually agreed to part ways with cvMax. But what seemed to be an amicable end to their relationship has quickly turned into a circus.

cvMax continues to expose Griffin

The former head coach has taken to his streaming channel to “expose” Griffin and attack the organization. cvMax’s latest revelations involve 18-year-old former Griffin player Kanavi. According to cvMax, Griffin forced the player to sign a five-year contract with the Chinese organization JD Gaming.

As a transfer fee, Griffin was set to receive over $1 million, and none of that money would go to Kanavi or cvMax. The coach has claimed that he is responsible for Kanavi’s development and the one that has been grooming him since his trainee days.

cvMax also revealed gruesome details about the alleged playing conditions for the substitutes and trainees signed to Griffin. According to cvMax, the players are forced to train over 15 hours per day, don’t have basic equipment like chairs or desk, and are not properly fed by the staff. Allegedly, the trainees eat only leftovers from the main roster players and are forbidden from ordering delivery food to the dorms.

In his most recent stream, cvMax turned the attention from the team to the players. Back in September, cvMax said that despite the misunderstandings with the organization, he still had a good relationship with the players. But it seems like those days are over, as cvMax went on a rant and criticized Choi “Sword” Sung-won and Park “Viper” Do-hyeon, who recently asked him publicly to stop spreading “false rumors.”

cvMax and Sword were at odds at Griffin

Sword has been a particular target of the community’s anger after cvMax implied that he was the player speaking against him to the team’s director. According to the accusations, Sword was unhappy with his benching by cvMax and complained to cvMax’s superiors about it, perhaps conspiring to have cvMax ousted.

Griffin has refrained from making any official comments following cvMax’s declaration. The organization is collaborating with Riot Games through the investigation and stated that they would take the measures necessary to ensure that their players are protected.

Griffin’s journey at Worlds has not yet been affected by cvMax’s comments, as the team dominated G2 Esports and secured the first seed in their group.

cvMax is rumored to return to the LCK in 2020, as according to sources, the controversial head coach signed a contract with Kingzone DragonX for the upcoming season.
