There will be more great League of Legends action in 2020 as Riot Games recently announced the 2020 All-Star Event, taking place from December 18-20.

After a very special year, League of Legends All-Star will return in a new online format. Riot will be ensuring pros and influencers can play from their home or regional studio. This means that there will be a new format, including the “Underdog Uprising” stage and “Superstar Showdown” stage.

The Underdog Uprising will kick off on December 18 and will be packed with matches between neighboring regions. The teams will be made out of top pros who are voted by fans.

The Superstar Showdown will be played out from December 19-20 and will feature three superteams each from the LCK, LCS, LEC, and LPL. Because of the online format, nearby regions will clash on Summoner’s Rift. This means that the LCK and LPL will play on December 19, while the LCS and LEC will play on December 20.

A special Red Bull 1v1 competition will also take place throughout the All-Star weekend.

The top vote-getters from the LCS and LEC will draft “dream teams” consisting of five players total. To mix things up a bit, each captain will pick at least two pros from each region. These teams will then compete in a Bo3.

Furthermore, the LCS and LEC pros will also be contending in some non-standard match formats.

The All-Star voting will take place on November 9-16, where fans can vote in their favorite players for the event. This year, fans will be able to vote for one pro in each role from as many leagues as they like.

The 2020 All-Stars Event kicks off on Friday, December 18.
