Quincy Crew runs over Evil Geniuses in long-awaited NA showdown

Quincy Crew has planted its flag and cemented its claim to being the top team in North American Dota 2.

In one of the most hotly anticipated matchups in months, Quincy Crew toppled Evil Geniuses 2-1 in the North American Dota Pro Circuit League. Though the 2-1 score might suggest a close match, Quincy Crew’s victories were lopsided to the point where it’s hard to contend they’re not the better team at this point.

Quincy Crew was generally getting the better of Evil Geniuses in game one. Though Evil Geniuses held the net worth lead throughout thanks to Artour “Arteezy” Babaev’s Alchemist, Quincy Crew won almost every mid-game skirmish and kept the gold close.

YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME @Arteezy! ????

That prompted Arteezy to play a bit more conservative until the 33-minute mark, where the two teams finally came head to head. Though Yawar “YawaR” Hassan’s Medusa had Aegis of the Immortal, a kill on Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang led to an overreach by Quincy Crew into Evil Geniuses’ base. The buybacks came in and Evil Geniuses was able to repel and chase down Quincy Crew, then convert that team fight into two lanes of barracks.

Once Quincy Crew regained its footing and pushed out lanes, a smoke gank came through and killed YawaR once again. Evil Geniuses took that time to build up its net worth lead, but Quincy Crew showed that the squad is still dangerous even when playing from behind. A pickoff on Andreas Franck “Cr1t-” Nielsen set up a Roshan attempt, but Evil Geniuses contested with Abed “Abed” Azel L. Yusop stealing the Aegis. Arteezy then rampaged through Quincy Crew and forced the GG call.

QUINCY CREW HAVE DONE IT! ????

An OUTSTANDING Game 3 performance secures a 2-1 #NADPC series win!

With this result, BOTH of the Major spots for NA are still up for the taking! ????

Game one was an exciting affair, but games two and three were not. Quincy Crew preyed upon Evil Geniuses’ supports to gain an early lead and simply played better, faster Dota 2. Evil Geniuses just couldn’t find an opportunity to stifle Quincy Crew’s momentum. Game two ended with a 36-13 kill tally in Quincy Crew’s favor, while game three’s was 24-4.

Quincy Crew looking like real contender for ONE Esports Singapore Major

Week five of the Dota Pro Circuit winter leagues is almost done and a clear picture is starting to form in regards to the favorites to win the ONE Esports Singapore Major. Though it’s hard to peg anyone as a favorite over Team Secret, Quincy Crew is looking like a very serious threat.

Quincy Crew had an incredibly strong 2020 that was largely shrugged off by Dota 2 fans. The team won seven straight tournaments, though this was largely ignored due to the thin talent pool in the Americas and the fact that Evil Geniuses sat out most of the year. When Evil Geniuses came back for the winter leagues, many immediately deferred to the team as North America’s best team.

this win obviously meant a lot for us. please be happy for us (rather than flame anyone) those guys are world class players/team for a reason and were just trying to grind our way up. ggs

It’s hard to look at Evil Geniuses that way now. Quincy Crew has long stood above Evil Geniuses on WIN.gg’s Dota 2 rankings and they have a key win over them to back it up.

Now 5-0 in the North American DPC League, and the lone undefeated team in the league, Quincy Crew has first place on lock with a 10-2 record on maps. The team has two matches left, with SADBOYS this Sunday and a season-closing showdown with Undying. The match with the 4-1 Undying is a big one but at this time, it’s looking like Quincy Crew has first place locked up.

If Quincy Crew gets a playoff invitation to the ONE Esports Singapore Major, the team could be able to post a deep run at the event. It’ll likely only take a couple of series at the event to seal a spot at The International 10.

When is the ONE Esports Singapore Major?

The ONE Esports Singapore Major runs from March 27 to April 4. The event will feature 18 teams from all six Dota 2 regions competing for $500,000 and 2,700 Dota Pro Circuit qualifying points towards The International 10.
