PUBG Season 4 changes Erengel and adds a new Survivor Pass

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Season 4 is now live on PC, introducing an updated Erengel map and all-new Survivor Pass.

According to the 4.1 patch notes, millions of players have dropped into Erengel since the game’s launch. Without losing the magic that made fans love the classic map, the developers decided to update the map’s graphics and terrain to help players better understand the battle-scarred island’s war-ridden past.

“To the players that helped us fine tune the island during our recent testing, we salute you. This island is your home, too,” the developers said.

But Season 4 isn’t all about the map’s visual changes. To enourage players to explore Erengel’s detailed updates and discover some of its past, developers have introduced Survivor Pass 4: AFTERMATH.

The pass reveals the past and present of Erengel through skins and items from the island’s deep history. Collect these rewards by completing missions that level up the Survivor Pass, either on your own or with help from the community.

There are daily missions that update every night, and weekly missions as well. Players who purchased the Survivor Pass also have access to Premium missions, which grant additional rewards.

An improved mission change system was also introduced earlier today. Players can now swap out up to three daily missions per day for free. BP can be used to swap out additional missions. Players who complete all three daily missions can then use 1,500 BP to get a new set of daily missions to complete.

PUBG weapon and vehicle changes

Patch 4.1 didn’t only bring map changes to PUBG. Many weapons were buffed and nerfed in an attempt to balance the game.

Assault rifles saw a decreased damage output, while shotguns saw an increase in their damage dealing. SMGs also have increased damage over distance, which will make the weapon a bit more versatile. A top rail was also added to the Uzi to allow Red Dot and Holographic Sights attachments.

The vehicles now have the radio and improved handling. In response to feedback, developers nerfed the BRDM-2, which was made more susceptible to damage. The vehicle takes 40% increased damage in duo mode, and a whopping 80% more in solo mode, “giving lone gunmen a fighting chance.”

Another aspect of the game affected by the update is increased mobility while healing. Healing and boost items can now be used while moving, although players are limited to walking speeds.

Season 4 ends on October 15.
