Pokemon Unite has gotten a new supporter character in the form of Psyduck. Thanks to the latest leak, we not only know who this new character is but have an idea of its powers.

Having been a fan favorite from the original Pokemon, players and trainers will undoubtedly be hit with a wave of nostalgia as Psyduck takes its place. But what does the famous yellow trickster offer in terms of abilities?

Pokémon Unite Psyduck’s move set and abilities

Psyduck Move set

Psyduck’s move set and abilities can be summarized as healing, speed and support via crowd control. Its passive ability is swift swim, with Psyduck being temporarily faster when it’s attacked. If he or one of his allies takes a hit, his headache gauge increases, and once it’s full, a “mysterious power” that shoves nearby enemies is activated.

Psyduck’s first move is Confusion, which damages opponents through telekinetic force. This move is boosted when the “mysterious power” is active and can be upgraded to Bubble Bean and Surf. At level 5, the bubbles not only damage the opponent but leave them unable to move, while the wave delivers both damage and a slowing effect to enemies while increasing the speed of allies. At level 11, the bubble leaves the enemy unable to move, and the wave limits the damage done by the enemy.

The second move sees the duck wagging its tail at opponents, dealing damage that way and reducing their defenses. It too is boosted by the mysterious power and can be upgraded to psychic or disable. At level 7, the psychic does damage to the opposing Pokemon and leaves them unable to act, and disable has a similar effect. At level 13, psychic limits the enemies’ defenses while disable leaves them unable to act for longer.

Finally, Psyduck’s unite move is his full-power pys-ay-ay, which unlocks at level 9. With this move, players can emit three psychic waves around themselves that protect them from damage by reducing the impact of opponents. Another thing worth noting about the Unite move is that it increases the headache guage. Because several other moves are made more potent by the mysterious ability (that is triggered by the headache gauge), it will almost certainly come in handy.

So far, a lot of Psyduck’s abilities seem centred around not only attacking but defending as well.  And given how beloved he is already, we can expect the abilities to be well utilized.
