Imane “Pokimane” Anys has opened up about a horrific stalker experience with a higher-up at a large company in the streaming industry.

During a recent stream, popular content creator Pokimane told fans that she was dealing with a very concerning situation with a man in the streaming industry. According to Poki, it was someone she had been working with for years who was employed at a large company within the industry.

This person, Pokimane continued, was pretending to have a romantic and sexual relationship with her in order to manipulate other women in Pokimane’s community. He would then allegedly threaten to harm himself if the women turned against him.

Pokimane also added that he used his position of power to leak “privileged information” about Pokimane and other female streamers.

What happened to Pokimane?

Pokimane did not give out the harmful person’s name or the company he worked at, but many have started speculating that he is employed at Twitch or Discord. According to Pokimane, this was someone “well-networked” within the streaming community and knew many big names. He was genuinely helpful to Pokimane and other women in her community, which made this sudden realization all the more horrifying for her.

According to Pokimane, women she knew started coming forward with concerns and wanted to speak to her manager. They started sending “countless screenshots and videos” of conversations with the man, “proving the lying and manipulation.”

“Basically, he would reach out to girls he knew were in my chat or viewers of mine. And because of his connections with streamers and the company he worked at, he seemed like a very trustworthy individual,” she said. “Then he would tell these girls that he was suicidal and deals with mental health issues, which of course, garnered him a lot of sympathy. These girls are so sweet, so of course, they’d hear him out. Once he felt he’d gained their trust enough, he’d share photoshopped Discord conversations of me and him, as well as making up wild stories about me.”

According to Pokimane, the man would pretend that he hung out with Pokimane and her friends in person. But this was someone she said she has never met or even had a relationship with beyond talking about work-related things.

Streaming community reacts to Pokimane stalker

A lot of people on social media were confused why Pokimane had kept the person’s identity private. The man was fired after an investigation, but Pokimane felt it would only harm victims if his identity was shared. Anyone that supports the popular individual would possibly attack accusers, harassing them and calling them liars.

Despite this concern, many people felt that Pokimane was lying and felt the stalker situation sounded unbelievable. One woman questioned how sharing fake conversations with Pokimane would make more women send him explicit photos and other questionable things. Others accused her of “protecting” the abuser and continued to demand that he be revealed.

This situation really isn’t too unbelievable, however. Other popular female streamers have dealt with very similar problems, including Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa. The adult content creator recently opened up about people making fake accounts pretending to be her to get money from victims who believe they are talking to the real Amouranth.
