Pokemon fans are in for an exciting event as Pokemon Scarlet & Violet prepare to launch a Tera Raid Battle featuring the legendary Shiny Rayquaza. The raid battle is set to take place from December 19, 2024, to January 5, 2025. This gives players a chance to add this rare, shiny form of the Sky High Pokemon to their collection. The details surrounding the event have sparked much anticipation among players. Moreover, many players are gearing up for what could be a challenging yet rewarding raid.

When and how to catch Shiny Rayquaza?

The Tera Raid Battle against Shiny Rayquaza will begin on December 19, 2024, at 7:00 PM Eastern and will end on January 5, 2025, at 6:59 PM Eastern. This time frame conveniently covers the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, allowing trainers ample time to participate in the event. However, some key aspects of the raid remain shrouded in mystery. This includes the Tera type of Rayquaza and its Star rating. As such, both of which are yet to be disclosed by The Pokemon Company.

This event is a global affair, meaning players around the world will get a chance to battle the iconic dragon. Known for its emerald green color, Shiny Rayquaza is sporting a striking dark green appearance with glowing yellow eyes. This makes it a highly coveted Pokemon for collectors and competitive players alike.

What makes Rayquaza so special?

Shiny Rayquaza cinematic

Rayquaza, first introduced in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, is a dual-type Dragon and Flying Pokemon. In the games, it played a critical role in quelling the conflict between Groudon and Kyogre. Its Shiny Rayquaza has gained significant popularity due to its distinctive dark green hue. Rayquaza boasts powerful moves such as Dragon Ascent, Extreme Speed, and Hurricane, making it a formidable opponent in any raid battle.

In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, the Air Lock ability of Rayquaza will prove useful in negating any weather effects during battle. The ability gives players a strategic edge. Although details about its Tera type have not been revealed, it is expected that the legendary Pokemon will come prepared with a versatile move set. This could potentially include attacks like Flamethrower, Ice Beam, and Thunderbolt.

Additional events and expectations

The Shiny Rayquaza Tera Raid will coincide with a Mythical Pokemon distribution event in Japan, featuring Zarude, Keldeo, and Deoxys from November 20, 2024, to April 30, 2025. However, it is still unclear whether this distribution event will be extended globally. Fans are eagerly awaiting further announcements, hoping to gain more insight into what strategies and team compositions might be effective against the powerful Shiny Rayquaza.

In addition to the Shiny Rayquaza event, players can also look forward to the return of Feraligatr the Unrivaled in a Seven-Star Tera Raid from November 7 to November 10. This provides an opportunity for trainers to sharpen their skills before facing the legendary dragon in what promises to be one of the most thrilling raid battles of the season.

With the hype building and details slowly emerging, fans of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are advised to start preparing their teams. Only time will tell what surprises await trainers when they face off against Shiny Rayquaza in this epic Tera Raid Battle event.
