Pokemon fans rage at Hisuian Samurott, Decidueye, Typhlosion leak

One of the hottest topics surrounding Pokemon Legends: Arceus is whether fans will see new Hisuian versions of Samurott, Decidueye, and Typhloshion, the evolutions of starters Oshawott, Rowlet, and Cyndaquil. Judging from recent leaks they will have new looks, but fans aren’t happy about it.

Multiple leakers seemingly got their hands on a copy of Pokemon Legends: Arceus more than a week before the game’s release. One of them, known as Pory_Leeks on Twitter, posted what appears to be footage of the game and photos of the in-game models for a number of unannounced Hisuian Pokemon.

The response to these new Pokemon has been generally negative, but Hisuian Samurott, Decidueye, and Typhlosion in particular have inspired pure anger within the fandom.

It’s easy to see why. The Hisuian Typhlosion looks gangly and goofy rather vicious like the original. Hisuian Decidueye and Samurott have a strange appearance that doesn’t really capitalize on the potential for allusions to the samurai of the era. Even putting that aside, they don’t undergo the radical transformations that other regional variants underwent in Alola and Galar.

There’s a strong possibility that these Pokemon will look better in action than they do at the moment. Recent starters have had unique animations for attacks, and Pokemon like Incineroar have much more personality come through when they’re in action rather than just standing still. That will likely be the case here.

Though this wasn’t confirmed by the leakers, the Hisuian start trio were rumored to be getting new typings, as water-dark, grass-fighting, and fire-ghost. If true, these three secondary typings give them a secondary rock-paper-scissors mechanic that runs opposite of their base typing. They would join a growing list of new evolutions and Hisuian regional variants that have already been revealed for Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

What other new Pokemon are coming to Pokemon Legends: Arceus with Hisuian Decidueye, Typhlosion, and Samurott?

Alongside previously revealed additions to the lineup, new regional variants for Qwilfish, Sneasel, Lilligant, Goodra, and Avalugg are also reportedly coming to Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Pokemon leakers previously leaked a list of new Pokemon that were coming with Centro Leaks compiling the complete list. In addition to the Hisuian variants to Pokemon such as Samurott, Decidueye, and Typhlosion are new forms of several other Pokemon.

Among the leaks are alleged models for these Pokemon:

If these are real, the most notable in that lineup is a Hisuian Goodra. As with starter Pokemon, no pseudo-legendary Pokemon has ever received a regional variant. There have been some alternate forms to the obligatory 600 base stat Pokemon including mega versions of Tyranitar, Salamence, Garchomp, and Metagross, but no regional variants have been introduced through the first eight Pokemon generations. The Pokemon received a new snail-like look that will set it apart from the original in an interesting way.

As of this writing, Nintendo has not confirmed any of these Pokemon. Either way, there’s no question that the new Hisuian Pokemon are set to be revealed even if they don’t include Decidueye, Samurott, and Typhlosion.
